What Do YOU Call This Food?

Nope I don't like them at all, nor do I like Funyuns, Hot Fries, Cheetos or Pringles. I'd bet there more chemicals than natural ingredients and they taste like it to me. They're the Darth Vader of snack foods.

Fun random fact: Gardetto's snack mix is one of the (if not the absolute) most fluorescent snack foods when viewed under a microscope. Much brighter than Cheetos, Funyuns, Skittles, and a bunch of other bright colored foods.

If those were Doritos, my children would call that a ‘Walking Taco’ because that’s what their school lunch program here in Minnesota calls it.

But my kids insist Walking Tacos must only be made with Nacho Cheese-flavored Doritos.

I don't have a problem with Doritos being called walking taco, but the Fritos is pie!

They do in Northfield School District! It was apparently my daughter’s favorite - as she was recalling it fondly to me the other night.

But I’m not a Townie/Minnesotan, as I have only been here 20-ish years.

There are many other types of vending machines of course. I've never actually seen one like the above that sells both drinks and snacks, most offer either snacks or drinks. I don't see them very often in my neck of the woods, but you can find vending machines that sell hot drinks, soups, there's one that sells pizza, and they can be quite elaborate. But the typical vending machine fare will be soda/water and chips/candy. It's meant to be a place to get a snack rather than a whole meal.

My bad lol. I meant back then what's a vending machine? I saw them on American shows. May have been middle school before I saw one irl.

I'm from Alabama and I've never seen such a thing.

I would have called it a Frito nacho if that were an option on the poll, though. That's what it looks like. In what sense is this a pie?

Walking taco. They make frequent appearances at concession stands for school or club sports here in Wisconsin. A bag of Fritos with taco fixings on top. They weren't a thing when I was a kid in the 1970s and 80s. But they've been a standard through my kids' educations in the 2000s through 2020s.
