That's the convention were I'm from now, but my granddad's generation called it dope, e.g. "I'd like a dope and a moonpie".

Well, there's nothing taco shaped about it either, and it certainly isn't walking anywhere. In my defense: the word "Fritos" is literally written on the side...

Pie takes on many shapes and fillings. My guess is the pastry in this case is replaced with corn chips, and the filling is chilli. Frito based on the popularity of the brand name. Dates back to as early as the 1930's.

With respect, the chips are in no way, shape, or form able to contain chili. The pastry is replaced with a plastic bag.
