Spoilers Rings of Power is back!

Tolkien never claimed Celebrimbor was remotely intelligent, just a talented artist.

The world is full of dumb people, and many of the rise to positions of power.

More Sauron not Celebrimbor.

I liked Adar outsmarting him kinda say the crown stabbing. That's gonna hurt.

I don't know the deeper lore but have been reading the wiki.

Apparently ratings are creeping up after 50% drop from S1. E5 is up here ymmv but it will wait a until tomorrow.

Isn't that the point? It's the tale of how Sauron corrupted elves, dwarves, and men due to their own flaws. It's a tragedy, not a heroic tale.
Sauron corrupted them by aiming with the rings on their greed and desire for power.
This is not there yet. He must go with this road because those are heroes and cannot be fooled simply.

also the whole order of the rings is upside down, Celebrimbor made the 3 elven rings after he found out about Saurons trickery. That was the whole point about making them.

And not to mention the stupid dwarf kind refusing to sell mithril to the elves.
He should have awaken next day with elven host at the gate with ultimatum; sell or we will take it. Same with Thranduil and Lonely mountain.

But they're not heroes, and they can be fooled.

The order in which the rings were made is another one of those things Tolkien kept changing his mind about. There are certainly writings supporting the Three being made first (I.e in the order of the rhyme).

Visually, it is a feast for the eyes. Overall, it's OK, but I don't think it is great. Still, it certainly seems to me that it as improved since season 1. I like the writing better and I feel that Clark is acting much better in those episodes. I will keep watching.

I wonder whether Rings of Power suffers in the same way Solo suffered: it is trying to wrap up every hanging story thread we have heard of in one go. Maybe I am wrong and all of these big events really were this compressed in the lore. But somehow I doubt it.

Solo was a vastly sillier production, answering questions "why is his name 'Solo?'" that no rational person asked, and staging yet another ridiculous defense of Star Wars canon by "explaining" why the Kessel Run was measured in parsecs. (It still wouldn't be -- the ultimate measure of importance would still be speed. Lucas messed up and so Han Solo misspoke. It's fine, it happens, especially if Han had been drinking for a while before he met Ben and Luke.)

Other than the Stranger, which mostly seems to be an excuse to let us see the Blue Wizards, there's not really that much of that here, IMO.

There's a clear desire to show that this isn't the Third Age, which is good, while still wanting the audience that likes the Peter Jackson movies to stick around, which is understandable.

Which makes them a lot less appealing to watch.

That, and it's suffering in the same way as the prequel trilogy - seeing everything inevitably go wrong isn't nearly as fun as seeing things improbably go right.
