I love all of these flicks, but I haven't seen Lord of Illusions or In the Mouth of Madness yet. Mine would be:

Evil Dead
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
They Live
Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (Which I'd forgotten)
Scream
Re-Animator
Silent Night, Deadly Night
Black Christmas
Return of the Living Dead
Phantasm

All of these are sure to have been mentioned already and I had to really think about them. I haven't seen a lot of these in years, so they might not hold up. All of my references are old and out-of-date. I haven't seen a horror movie worth watching in decades. Even the new(ish, to me) Re-Animator was all over the place, and although the new Evil Dead had a lot going for it, I doubt I'll ever watch it again.

[Does The Hidden count? Too sci-fi?]

Angel Hearth is a psychological horror movie I liked. I haven't watched it again since it came out. May not have aged well.

Psycho is a master class.
Rosemary's Baby is weird.
Texas Chainsaw scared me.
Carrie, Spacek is perfect.
Videodrome was mindbending.

Videodrome was mindbending.
eXisTenZ (or however it's spelled) picks-up where Videodrome left-off; it's like how he remade Shivers as Rabid. So much better, IMO, although I enjoyed Videodrome (it just kind of fell apart at the end, which was too much like They Live for me not to notice). eXisTenZ really is a great flick.

I remember watching that a lot when It came out and loving it. But I haven't seen it since then (should probably watch it again)

I've watched it a few times recently, since it was on streaming, and that little trivia aside, it's definitely worth viewing as its own thing. The similarities between the two films is obvious from the start but, since he had money to do this one, it goes so much further. It has some horror overtones and elements along the way, but it's a solid Action/Sci-Fi. That's why I removed The Hidden from my list; great flick, but only thematically spooky. :D

I really enjoyed eXisTenX (whatever), and I liked Videodrome just fine (not even on my Cronenberg top 10, personally, but I still liked it). It's more Dark Conspiracy than Cyberpunk, but has a great plot, decent acting, and a definitive logical consistency.
