It is interesting to bring Dungeon Crawl Classics into the discussion here: Goodman Games specifically set out to create a game that produced the specific sort of narratives and results to stories as seen in classic pulp fiction. They used Appendix N as the guide to develop the game, to create something thst followed classic fantasy more closely than D&D usually does.Mothership is very much focused on being only one thing though (like the majority of non-D&D RPGs). So it is perhaps worth pointing out other examples of sci fi horror that are not as well known as Alien.
D&D is more like GURPs though. It’s all things to all people. It might be sci fi horror, it might be Carry on Cleo, and anything in between.
