I love the narrative content of Moorcocks stuff, but I can't stand his writing style. There, I've said it.
Found it.Is "Moorcock always refused to allow it to be filmed" correct? I thought they were looking at an Elric adaptation on screen in the 2010's but it ended up not going forward (not due to Moorcock).
I get that. Sometimes it's great, and sometimes it's not. He can be hit or a miss. I could get through most of the Elric books pretty quickly, but I found Corum to be a bit of slog at times, where it's just traveling across spans of nothingness in another plane but where nothing happens.I love the narrative content of Moorcocks stuff, but I can't stand his writing style. I apparently don't know enough about this, can you elaborate on the politics thing a little? Lots of folk of different politics have made stuff in the US.Another issue is Moorcock’s politics could make it difficult to deal with American backers. And it’s really not the sort of thing I can see the BBC doing!

He has also been a member of the Communist party. I don't know if he still is.Moorcock's works feature political content. In one interview, he states, "I am an anarchist and a pragmatist. My moral/philosophical position is that of an anarchist."[19] In describing how his writing relates to his political philosophy, Moorcock says, "My books frequently deal with aristocratic heroes, gods and so forth. All of them end on a note which often states quite directly that one should serve neither gods nor masters but become one's own master."[19] Besides using fiction to explore his politics,[16] Moorcock also engages in non-violent political activism.
Runestaff has rather more conventional heroic narrative than the Elric stories. Still, I would be very surprised if the BBC ever get round to making it.Though if you checked the earlier link I posted, the BBC has/had History of the Runestaff on the docket.
I’d love to see the Beeb tackle the Dark Empire of Granbretan. I can’t remember, is the BBC itself satirized at some point in the Hawkmoon books?Runestaff has rather more conventional heroic narrative than the Elric stories. Still, I would be very surprised if the BBC ever get round to making it.
