Elric of Melnibone

From Wiki:

He has also been a member of the Communist party. I don't know if he still is.

Runestaff has rather more conventional heroic narrative than the Elric stories. Still, I would be very surprised if the BBC ever get round to making it.
I don't see how any of that precludes working with him.

Not sure what you're talking about. I try very hard not to let politics affect my ability to appreciate content. That is a choice everyone has to make for themselves.
So, do the people paying the bills feel the same way? How would they feel about paying for something that openly included anti-establishment left wing views? How would Moorcock feel about any attempts to tone it down? Would he be able to remain civil to capitalists? Would he feel safe? He is of the same generation and similar politics to John Lennon, I'm sure he knows what happened to him. He is old enough to remember McCarthyism, when people even suspected of having the same political views he has expressed openly where forced to flee the country.

Ok, but those are not insurmountable obstacles. They don't have to stop anyone from working with each other.

I was about 12 or 13 when another kid in my gaming group told us all about Elric and how we had to read his books. I've been returning to those books ever since.

Michael Moorcock is a massive influence on gaming, on geek culture. Looking at the rest of Appendix N, I'd say he's the primary source of intelligent swords. And that's just one example out of many.

I would want someone like Matt Smith to play Elric and, given that he's already done the white hair thing, he'd never be used.
Yeah, the depiction of Daemon Targaryen really does seem to owe a lot to Elric:

I’d love to see the Beeb tackle the Dark Empire of Granbretan. I can’t remember, is the BBC itself satirized at some point in the Hawkmoon books?

That would be pretty cool. I could also see it working as an animated piece.
