D&D General Dark Sun as a Hopepunk Setting

Been saying basically the same things about Dark Sun for years.

I mean, really. What could a modern audience possibly find to engage with in a setting of ecological collapse, magic as a metaphor for industrialization run amok, scarcity of resources, and power-mad oligarchs who control everything?
People don't want to play "All too real life problems." So no, I really truly do not want to "engage with" global warming, runaway industrialization, lack of resources, and power mad elites who control everything. That's not a game.

Please speak for yourself. You don't want to play "All too real life problems". None of us individually are representative of "people" near enough to speak for them.
 





Or we could just not police people posting observations of multiple people and semantics them to death with the idea they're speaking for a way larger group than they mean.
If I said, "people like sandbox games and physics-based simulation mechanics", I expect I'd get some pushback on that, some of which would definitely suggest I shouldn't be speaking for a community as if I know they share my preferences.

I see no problem going the other way for the same reason.

Nothing in that sentence suggests you're speaking to the community. You said more than one person likes that. At the very least, you and Lamefan. Unless I'm overreaching, both of you are 'people'. Done and dusted, there's not remote justification for pushback there.
