Keith was very emphatic that your Eberron is your Eberron and thus kept it free of the curse of 90's metaplot. The base setting is always a few years after the Last War with some guidance on playing earlier or later.
Why do we have so many huge books when this sentence is the history of D&D?What that says to me is the fan community is too stuck in the past to ever allow
As I said before, 4E is easily the most difficult edition to make & utilize content for. People aren't avoiding 4E Dark Sun because it's a bad conversion but because it's 4E. Also 4E didn't muke Dark Sun... it just rewound to right after Kalak's defeat. Like how Eberron always rewinds to the end of the Last War.
What that says to me is the fan community is too stuck in the past to ever allow even something like OP's suggestion to ever work. The idea of a Dark Sun where PCs can make things better? Blasphemy! Hersey! You will die in the dessert and you will LIKE IT!
Another reason to go with a 3pp not-Dark Sun where you explore those themes on their own, unburdened by anyone's expectations of what Dark Sun should be.What that says to me is the fan community is too stuck in the past to ever allow even something like OP's suggestion to ever work. The idea of a Dark Sun where PCs can make things better? Blasphemy! Hersey! You will die in the desert and you will LIKE IT!
WotC still wants everyone's money? Why do we have so many huge books when this sentence is the history of D&D?
This almost feels a bit like a population map. Most people aren't playing 4e. 4e was a controversial edition overall. And yet we should be shocked when only 4% were using 4e for Dark Sun? Not surprised really. Can't say that I care though you clearly want us to believe that 4e Dark Sun is the worst. We know how you feel about it. Do you have anything productive to add to this conversation or do you plan on just posting more malcontent about 4e?
And we know how accurate that is.Facebook group is 16k some of there polls are coming up 1000 responses (close to political polling).
And we know how accurate that is.
snark aside I'm not arguing that 4E Dark Sun is the most popular version, I'm pointing out that it being less popular has little to do with the quality of the product. A solid conversion (licensed or WOTC) of Dark Sun to 5E would shift the numbers
More when people are claiming that the 4E way is the one true way. But we know how it panned out.
Sone things don't belong in Darksun. Other things need a tweak.
Goliath for exampke. Let's say you buy into Goliath as Half Giant. 2024 phb doesn't fit, Mordenkainen's ones tweaked could.
Same thing for Dragonborn. Even if you buy into DB=Dray the PHB ones don't fit. 4E messed that up. Tieflings also come to mind espicially when Genasi organically fit.
So if you want Dragonborn as dray you make an Athasian variant. They're unavailable in clasic era , Revised era they're available, modern era they're available in any timeline.
Your new book has the various eras. What fits in organically, what needs tweaked to fit and what shouldn't be there but can be added in say modern era for those who want it.
So in not so many words, your answer to my question is essentially "no"? Good to know.Do you have anything productive to add to this conversation or do you plan on just posting more malcontent about 4e?
