The 2019 Color Out of Space is pretty darn good. Despite the paradox of representing an indescribable color in a visual medium.

I'd say it was good but not great. The body horror parts were well done, but I'd quibble that the setting wasn't remote enough for the story to really work. The bigger problem I have with most modern attempts at that CooS is that the CGI always comes cross as video gamey to me.
To me, CooS is one of those stories like "The Music of Erich Zhaan" that work better as a book specifically because they never have to present the spooky part directly; letting your imagination fill that space is always scarier (even if it is a bit of a cop out). To be fair, the fact that I have incomplete color vision probably doesn't help.

That being said, "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill" aka the Stephen King segment from Creepshow, is my favorite adaptation of The Color Out of Space.

Shout out to Creepshow! That was my favourite horror film when I was a kid, and I love it still. That said, Stephen King was doing all the cocaine at that stage of his career, and it definitely shows in his performance. Which I write as a compliment!

I suspect this thread might be about different films, but I just have to say Don't Look Up left a huge impression on me. It’s not the kind of movie where you’re on edge waiting for jump scares or anything like that. It’s about human negligence, social media, arrogance, and deceit. Honestly, if the end of the world were to happen today, I think it would look exactly like that.
