It would be nice if there was an actually good version of Dreams in the Witch House

IMNSHO, there's lots of good lovecraftian horror movies, but very few actual Lovecraft adaptations that are very good. His writing style definitely wasn't tempered for a visual medium at all, which is both a product of its time and a direct result of the lack of professional editing.

most terrifying movie I have ever seen was Dead Ringers. Jeremy Irons plays twin OB/GYNs who start... doing things... to their patients. scared the hell out of me, and I'm a guy.

There was a thread specifically about Cronenberg not too long ago: Get Ur Body Horror: Cronenberg Films Ranked

Personally, I think that The Fly is better as a horror movie. Dead Ringers is good, but I found the vibe to be more depression/sadness and pity mixed with ickiness rather than scary. Although I suppose Requiem For a Dream is probably a horror movie for some, too.

The 2019 Color Out of Space is pretty darn good. Despite the paradox of representing an indescribable color in a visual medium.

A very pleasant surprise this one. Nicolas Cage's presence helps distract from the paradox. That is always the problem with movies, especially ones based on Lovecraft. If something is beyond imagination, or even just "the most beautiful/ugly/terrifying X ever" the result on screen can feel underwhelming. Lovecraft has a lot of indescribable things. It is like trying to turn a Dio lyric into a visual (the point of it is to force your imagination to do the work.

I literally just painted the "Colour Out of Space" miniature that came with a Cmon Games kickstarter.

It's mostly metallic pinks and blues.
