D&D 5E (2024) What's Your 2026 WotC D&D Wishlist?

Dark Sun and Birthright, but only if they treat it pretty much like they did Curse of Strahd and not Van Richten's guide or Spelljammer.

I'd also like to see the return of short adventures - in the 28 page or so range. Something you can run in a night or three.

A Manual of the Planes style book.

More Fizban's/Bigby's style books for different creature types, particularly for Fey and Celestials but ultimately for all the creature types eventually.

Either a Magic: The Gathering setting books for one of their worlds, or a large Monster Manual style book that brings over many of the monsters that exist in their world such as their versions of classic monsters as well as the more unique ones like the Eldrazi and Phyrexians.

2026 Book of Everything that updates most of the remaining 2014-era subclasses (not you, twilight cleric) and gives us the 2024 artificer.

More genre-expanding stuff, whether that's chivalry (MTG: Eldraine) or something anime- or Ghibli-inspired. (Ten zillion people Kickstarted Obojima and it remains super-weird that WotC seems to have no interest in engaging with a huge portion of fantasy fandom.) Or a cozy fantasy book for the folks who want to have a coffee shop for their bastion. Expand the audience.

That's about it for stuff I want. I am open to WotC surprising me with something good.

Monster books. Make sure all the classics are brought up to date. Can't have enough monsters.

Options. Something that is just subclasses, feats and species.

Equipment Guide. One of my favourite and most often used books for Pathfinder 1st was the Ultimate Equipment book. I'd love something to expand on weapons, armour and equipment.

Is Neverwinter the last major Sword Coast city to not get some sort of extended treatment in 5E? (Although maybe it will in one of the books this year.)

I would also like to see an "Advanced DMG" -- one that brings all the subsystems and focused stuff and optional rules to 2024. It isn't so much because I need that -- there are lots of non WotC sources out there -- but because I think it would improve the hobby by having an official Advanced DMG, given how many people are D&D only players and forever DMs.

I think we can do our part by sharing these other alternatives with as many people as will listen.

Monster Manual II for sure.
Maybe an Advanced Player's Handbook and Advanced DMG and/or a "Alternative Rules Tome" that reintroduces the idea of gritty mechanics and other options that are currently 2014 relics, or never made in to 5E
Also, a modern "Lords of Madness: Aberrations" guidebook, and a modern reimagining of the Liber Mortis.

Although I am sure more campaign adventure books are on the horizon, I am done with those and never benefit from them; I need stuff I as a homebrew/home campaign DM can use. I would make an exception for a hardcore Shadowfell revisitation akin to what was done for that plane in the 4E era, though. And it would be cool if they did a Nentir Vale setting book.
