I voted somewhat, because there's gotta be something compelling about the new choice. It doesn't take a lot to pique the interest, but I don't want to trade a night of a game I know I'll enjoy for something that ends up entirely forgettable, or actively not my taste.

Admittedly, I say this as someone who has a table all about rotating systems every 1-3 sessions.

I'll try lots of new stuff at a convention. I would be happy to try new things if someone in my group proposed it.

But I also want my weekly TTRPG session to be a continuous game. I don't want my weekly TTRPG session to be "learn a new game every week". I want to get into a game, and spend time really getting into it. If you keep pushing new games onto me, I will eventually lose interest in coming back.

For me, the question is kind of like "Do you want a donut?". Of course I want a donut. But that doesn't mean I want to eat the whole box of a dozen, no matter how good each different one is. Diminishing returns, and all that. And I would much rather eat one donut than take a bite out of each flavor in the box.

Ok, and just a temperature check on how eager or not folks are to trying a new system or game. Add comments as you like!
I wonder if there should be a separate thread for "Are you open to other game concepts and settings?"

Like, its one thing to say "Are you open to trying Powered by the Apocalypse" games.

But its very different to ask "Are you open to playing a game of a Spanish Telenovela?" (which happens to use PBTA)

....

As a side note, I have run into many players who cannot, and I mean in kindest terms of both interest and personal investment = cannot play anything but somewhat generic fantasy and maybe four-color supers (bit only for a short bit) . So in that case, the system did not matter one bit... even if it was one they liked and were familiar with.

I am open to the systems, not so much to the genre. Not interested in Cyberpunk or Superheroes at all, so I chose somewhat open. The other side is the crunch level (or lack thereof)

I love trying new games. If it sounds interesting, I'm always eager to at least give it a shot. I won't know if I like or dislike it until I try it. Unfortunately some people are resistant to new games and also a lot of the games that interest me typically have smaller audiences.

I was in a D&D group where one guy would ONLY play 2nd Edition D&D. He'd play exactly zero other TTRPGs. I wanted to branch out and play stuff like Paranoia and Trail of Cthulhu, amongst others, and we didn't because he wouldn't. It bugged me. Yo there are a thousand games, man. Why are we only playing one?

That's one of those "Not really" systems for me. I understand it, and its flow, and hae used some of the far flung variants...

That's a case where I'm open to the setting but not to the system.

Actually, a lot of games hit that spot. Anything using d20 system (Wizards D20 SRD 3.0/3.5/Modern), or PBTA, or using THAC-0 and/or descending AC.

So, yeah, they're totally different questions.

You're under by an order of magnitude on how many...

Iv'e seen a lot of people with that fixation o'er the years.

I would rather just play 5e if I have a choice. Now if someone cancels the game night and the others still want to get together and play something else, then sure.
