D&D Forums and Spam Threads

Hi. Seems that the site is targeted with automated bots that create accounts and threads. Seems some security guard is not working properly.

Isn't there at least a quick fix that disallows newly created accounts from opening threads?

Yeah, there's spam accounts and then there's....this.

We have so many spam threads just in the D&D subforum, they've nearly choked out anything else. Even with ignoring every spam poster I've seen, the front page is now reduced to showing only three threads. Edit: Make that the first two pages of the D&D subforum are now down to only 3 actual human-participating threads.

Looks like a massive wave of them--registered overnight. I've temporarily closed new registrations while we clean it up. I don't want to say it's a DDOS attack, but it currently has the hallmarks of one.

There are several threads that are not accessible to me. Sometime it is the whole thread, sometime a page within it. I get the following message:

Oops! We ran into some problems.

A server error occurred. Please try again later.

Is it a problem on my end or some issue with the site?
