EDIT: I did not really present this question correctly. What I was really asking was "Do you run games OTHER than home games?" I get that a lot of people play online. What I wanted to know was how many GMs out there run at conventions, for game clubs, at stores or other games "with strangers".

As I am about to embark on one of three annual conventions where I try and run as many games as I can fit in, I am curious where and when other EN World GMs run games.

Answer as many as are applicable, and let me know if I missed something.

I run games at my house so I'm picky who I play with, I don't want strangers or people I hardly know in my home. So, I generally play with friends. Conventions don't interest me, and I try and stay out of bars more often than not. I've played in game stores and had a group I put together online with people I didn't know and there was a lot of player turnover in both cases so it's not something I'd do again. It's safe to say that the older I get the more antisocial I get.

Con games are great. You get to introduce people to new games, and you might just make new friends.
Sure, I’m not knocking it. My con attendance is pretty low and not consistent so planning is usually a last min thing and I don’t feel comfortable signing up to GM last min.

We usually play at a house. Sometimes we can't play at a home, so we play at our FLGS: Heretic Games 442 San Mateo Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, which is the next best thing.

Used to run games at a friend’s home until that friend left town. I also ran a number of games, mostly one-shots, at an FLGS until the FLGS shut down due to an illness in the family. These days I just run games online so I voted “Other.”

Currently, almost exclusively online. Before I moved I run games in my house. Now, when I do run games in person, I usually get a room or table at my FLGS. I'm hoping that in the next year or so I will be back to having a good game space in my home and can put together a group to run games from home. But my job is currently in limbo with whats going on so I'm not currently renting and holding off on a family move.

I've never run a TTRPG at a convention. It is hard to make the commitment in advance and I don't want to put myself or the Con in the situation of dealing with a last-minute cancellation. Also, I have a bit of a block of running games where people are paying to play. I'm much more comfortable putting up a flyer in a FLGS and running a game there.
