D&D 5E Which was the most recent Wizards adventure you consider a classic?

yeah, Lost Mines of Phandelver is a classic to me, but the follow-on Shattered Obelisk is a swing-and-a-miss - I may actually sell my copy.

I'd like to root for Tomb having read through it now (the starting city itself is fascinating), but the way our DM ran it, I would have put it in worst adventure path territory - but I think I have to say that's all on the DM. I'd like one day to DM it and see if it really does play as good as it reads.

Any others I would nominate would simply be reprints from previous editions - Curse of Strahd, Ghosts of Saltmarsh, Tales from the Yawning Portal's content and Quests from the Infinite Staircase content (though I admit I haven't gotten to actually run/play the latter) mainly.

The only issue I have with Tomb is the sense of urgency that is seeded at the start. This is an adventure where the adventurers should take their time and feel open to explore. There is so much more that my players missed because they were hyperfocussed on achieving the end-goal. They still got lost in the jungle for a couple of weeks though.

I’ve run most of the 5e adventurers at least once, and my three favorite books for this edition are Curse of Strahd, Tomb of Annihilation, and Waterdeep: Dragon Heist.
Dragon Heist is weird. I both love it and hate it at the same time! Great concept, occasionally floundering execution, but so much inspiration that I make it my own and have a ball!

Curse of Strahd feels like an entirely new adventure, due to its switch from focussing almost 100% on the castle to becoming far more exploring the province. (Personally, I feel the castle material to not quite work as well!)
Unfortunately when I ran it, my players coincidentally happened to make a beeline right for where I’d placed Strahd in the castle, so they didn’t even get to explore most of it!

I’ve run Dragonheist and I’d love to give it another go. I very much had the wrong group at the time.

But I could see it being an absolute blast for the right group.
