Chest day was good, didn't push it on a few sets, but I completed all I wanted to.

Acupuncture was weird, first time. Got a needle right in the tendon or something, shoulder is pretty inflamed. Will see how it goes.

Tomorrow is legs, Wednesday, back. Better be moving better by then or I'll be pissed. Needed my wife to help get my shirt off.

Just rolling over has me laughing out loud, not great.

Sore, but I think its a combo of my chest day actually being much better than I thought, as I'm not normally sore the following day these days, and the acupuncture.

Shoulder just feels tired, I'm going to see if I have some heat rub or something.

Any advice for exercise with back injuries?
Not sure how bad your back is, but I would think if you can do long hikes you could do some light strength training? No need to go to the gym or buy expensive equipment. My home equipment is very barebones. All I have is a set of pushup handles, two 10lb ankle weights, a chin up bar and a set of dumbbells that go up to 27.5lb. I can still do a routine that's quite challenging with that.

Most health organizations now recommend that everyone do strength training. They used to only recommend cardio, but more and more research has come out showing the health benefits of strength training, especially for older people who steadily lose muscle otherwise. So it's not just for bodybuilders.

Exactly, I'm trying to encourage my wife to start doing some weight based work, because that + yoga would be something to carry us as we age through this middle age portion.

Most injuries for elder folks are falls, because they simply lack the core strength to right themselves once they start to tip.

Yup. Plus resistance training can help counteract loss of bone density, is good for joint health and strength, etc.

I wish I had started younger so I could have started evangelizing it to my parents earlier. :/

I regularly make appointments and chicken out because I and afraid of some freak needle accident causing a tear or something.

Other than the shoulder how was it?

I seem to have either a significant strain or mild tear in my right boob, so that's a (literal) pain and also gets in the way of my regular routine pretty significantly. Had to do one-armed elliptical machine today, and very low weights - gonna take it easy until it is properly assessed, so I don't make it worse. Being an old geezer sucks.

Definitely take it easy and get it looked at. You don't want to mess with those
