GOD RULES: Player's Guide (5e) Kickstarter Pre-Launch Page

Thanks for the reply amigo.

I'm still weighing up my options, but currently leaning towards:

1. A Black and White Pencil Artist Sketch Edition (100% Real Art)
2. A Colour version (mix of Real Art and AI Art/Repainted) but with Stretch Goals to replace AI art with Real Art.

That seems to be the simplest option.

I'll decide on the specifics over the next day or so.
That sounds like a good plan!

If the B&W option is cheaper than the color version, that would be ideal. Not necessarily way cheaper, but a reasonably lower price. IMO, of course.

Few publishers do this, but . . . I'd throw in the B&W edition (digital) with higher level pledge tiers, like the color edition. Adds more perceived value without impacting your costs much (I would think . . .).

Well, that does lead to the question, what Divine Rank would a party have to be to face off against something like a full-caster version of a THR-1000 EARTHMOVER? Considering just 3 of them were able to more or less singlehandedly exterminate life on earth, albeit mostly through pollution, I'd guess around DR 6-ish?

Not sure what to charge for that yet.

Book is currently 416 pages, that might jump to 432 but I don't think it will be more than that

Colour PDF will be £28 (I'm in the UK here so I can't set it in US dollars)
Colour Book will be £30
Kickstarter Exclusive Cover will be £35

Not setting anything in stone yet but maybe £24-25 for B&W PDF and £26-27 for B&W book + pdf....?

Remember of course any physical books still need their Printing and Shipping paid to Drivethrurpg (Printing is around +$33 (Standard Quality) and +$54 (Premium/Glossy quality)

This is my first Kickstarter and to circumnavigate the potential tariff issues I have partnered with Drivethrurpg. So I don't have any real 'higher tiers - I can't really do Physical Add-ons or Stretch Goals without a separate fulfillment team and extra shipping costs for backers and I don't want to do that. I'll just keep it simple this first time around.

Its basically B&W PDF, Colour PDF, B&W book (+pdf), Colour book (+pdf) and Colour Book with Kickstarter Exclusive cover. (plus pdf).

I had plans to do a bunch of others stuff (Miniatures, Badges, Character Sheets) but they will have to wait for future Kickstarters.

I watched the following:

From that I have it pegged at around CR 32 = Divine Rank 5. It has at least low-yiield Nuke level capability, its roughly Godzilla-sized. Seems the best fit.

Although to be clear my Challenge Ratings from 16 onwards are a 'tad' tougher than the official ones - with each +4 CR (or +1 Divine Rank) effectively being a x1.817 ish multiplier in terms of character equivalence

So
CR 12 = Average Epic Tier character
CR 16 = x1.816 Epic Characters (simplified to x2)
CR 20 = x3.3 (simplified to x3)
CR 24 = x5.99 (Simplified to x6)
CR 28 = x10.89 (Simplified to x10)
CR 32 = x19.8 (simplified to x20)

So the THR-1000 EARTHMOVER would be around CR 32 and roughly equivalent to 20 Epic Level characters although if you can get inside it things might be slightly easier.

I know the 'fight inside the big monster' trope is a fairly common one nowadays, I have a few twists on the formula - but I'll save those details for the Epic Bestiary. ;)

Very cool Robot though.

I really don't want to seem like I'm doing this to be a contrarian and I know that it might be a bit of a hair-splitting request but on an individual basis, is there any chance of a copy that will have the original vision? It seems like 2) is pretty close but I'd be looking for something that isn't affected by the stretch goal alterations (should they be reached)

As someone who discovered the original books relatively young, the most important part of your projects to me is the intent. I sympathize with how charged the AI issue is, my ultimate desire is to see the book YOU wanted to create with no external conditions because that's what drew me in the first place

Seeing how much the books got bashed in their day for being nonsensical or excessive, the kind of soul put into them became my association with how you operate. I WILL give my financial support towards whatever form the book takes. That's a given.

Huh?

If UK is able to produce a version that replaces all AI art with human art . . . you'd rather the AI art version instead? With the gaming content being the same?

No wanting to answer for @Upper_Krust , but I think it is really, really hard to get your true intent with AI images. IME, you eventually have to accept something that is not quite correct with AI. So I would guess, if you truly want UK's intent, then it should be commissioned art. That gives UK the most control to get what he wants. You really can't get that with AI images unless you are just extremely lucky (or not very picky - and I know UK is picky).

It is telling UK started with all commissioned art and only used AI when funds ran out, IIRC.

It seemed to me that @MazzelDazzle only wanted the AI art because of the, IMO, misguided thought that it fulfilled UK's vision more authentically. I seriously doubt that, know how AI images work and knowing a little bit about UK.

No offense intended by speaking about him as if he's not going to see this.

I don't claim to know U_K more than as a simple fan but I've followed this project for a while, as we all have. I'd rather he get the book out in this final stretch, AI or not, than have the timeline further delayed and his budget strained by the push to scrounge up the war chest to get things done legitimately.

Doubling down on this especially since there's a companion piece in the works, and that'll be subject to similar costs no doubt.

Yes, that's the whole point of crowdfunding and it's probably not going to be that hard to get it (assuming everyone pays their way) but that's not always a guarantee and as far as I'm concerned, he's in good standing that this isn't about doing a slop job or being lazy. He's been working on it for a while and time is money. A majority-commissioned project doesn't diminish in value just because some of the parts are sourced differently towards the end.

Again, not speaking for the man but if it doesn't clear in this coming push, it's probably not for another year+
