A new Pathfinder book focusing on dragons is coming out in December. Barnes & Noble posted a pre-order listing for Lost Omens: Draconic Codex, a new Lost Omens book focusing on the various kinds of dragons found in the world of Golarion. The rulebook will include stats for over 20 kinds of dragons, including some found in the unannounced Monster Core 2 rulebook. Additionally, the rulebook will include statblocks for archdragons, which serve as the equivalent to ancient dragons in the Pathfinder ruleset. Per the pre-order listing, the book will be released in December 2025.

The full description of the new book can be found below:

Dragons! The very name invokes power beyond reckoning, fire that can melt mountains and fangs the size of swords. To face a dragon is to face the ultimate challenge of any adventurer’s career. The reward for victory: gold, enough to twist any mortal’s heart into a bigger monster than the one they just slew. Inside this tome lies the secrets of dragonkind, as well as those mortals who look upon them with awe or with bitter envy. Research a fearsome foe or summon the courage to make an ally of these primordial beings and put your strength and wisdom to the test. Success will see triumph beyond measure, while failure leads to an ignominious end within the dragon’s maw!

Inside, you’ll find:
• Statistics for over 20 types of dragons, including expansions on the dragons found in Monster Core and Monster Core 2!
• Statistics for the ferocious archdragons, the oldest and mightiest dragons of their kinds!
• Expanded background and lore for dragons, including information on dragon physiology!
• Nine draconic deities for dragons and adventurers alike to worship!
• Ancestry and heritage options to play a draconic character of your own, from expansions to the dragonblood and kobold to a brand-new dragonet ancestry!
• Draconic pacts for those brave enough to tie their fates to these dangerous and magical beings.
• Character options for characters of all types that wish to claim the power of dragons, including the draconic acolyte archetype to take on the physical features of your draconic benefactor!

I am not a PF2 person, but I always support more books on dragons! Is there a good visual reference for the PF2e dragons? I really appreciated WotC effort to redesign their chromatics, but haven't paid as much attention the PF2e changes. Do they have images on the Archives?

Art work isn't typically included on Archives of Nethys or on the free rules on Foundry. That having been said, the remastered dragons are listed under the dragon entry for Monster Core to at least give you a list of what to Google. They are Adamantine, Conspirator, Diabolic, Empyreal, Fortune, Horned, Mirage, and Omen.

Some weeks ago I bought Fizban's book of dragons, and my opinion is the 3.5 Draconomicon had got more crunch and monsters. The seeds of adventures may be wellcome, but I would rather more pages about dragons than about lairs. I miss the ferrous and the planar dragons. How would be the planar dragonborns? And when the 5e lungs from Kara-Tur?

Other point is dragons need a lot of space for hunt, and we should know in the real life the predators can fight each other for the hunt-zones. What happens when a dragon becomes adult and she has to leave the nest but all the region is full by the rest of the members of her family? OK, now I can understand the reason because they may accept to become the mounts of knights if the salary is right.

Thank you. It had never occurred to me that dragons might accept riders/service to the crown because of lack of hunting space. This is brilliant

Thank you for the help!

Ok, now that I have looked at them, what are people saying about the new designs (visual - not mechanics)? When WotC changed the dragon designs for 2024 there was a lot of buzz (positive and negative). I really haven't heard any buzz on the PF2e dragons. Do people like them, dislike them, don't care?

Personally, though I need to let them percolate a bit, my first impression is not very good. None of these new dragons really speak to what I want in a dragon. I much prefer the PF2 chromatics and metallic dragon designs.

I'm not sure about the community as a whole, but I'm pretty much in the same boat as you just because I haven't used any of them yet to have much of an opinion. My wife as a PC in the campaign I'm running has come closer to using them with the Dragon Form spell her witch has. :ROFLMAO: In hindsight, I probably should have swapped one in for the Cloud Dragon they fought a couple sessions ago but I was short on prep time that week and largely just ran the encounter as it was presented in the AP.

My biggest complaint about the new PF2 dragons is that with the removal of chromatic and metallic dragons, the dragon form spell loses a lot of its versatility in terms of damage types. Elemental form doesn’t have access to cold damage, and now no longer does dragon form.

Sorta. While it does lose cold as you mentioned, it also gains damage types it didn't have before. My wife used it to turn into an adamantine dragon for its bludgeoning breath type that some swarm aberrations they were fighting were weak to, which wasn't an option for the chromatic/metallic dragons.
