I really want to see something from Goodman. I'm a little shocked they would release any news about this without a thorough explanation. They can't be that oblivious to the optics, can they? And the explanation better be good because "well we thought you'd forget" is not going to do it for me, not only for this product, but anything from Goodman.
I don't think they are oblivious . . . but I'm beginning to think they don't care. Or don't care enough. Which is disappointing.

The original City State of the Invincible Overlord is an old-school classic that would be a lot of fun updated to modern D&D. But I don't need it that badly, not enough to put money in the pockets of hateful people (Bledsoe, not Goodman).

But . . . I predict this crowdfunding campaign will do well. Not everyone is aware of the backstory, and not everyone cares. :(

That was my understanding from the Frog God Tegel Manor books.

"All Judge’s Guild royalties are contractually required to ONLY support the City State of the Invincible Overlord Kickstarter. See here: Frog God Games for more info."

I am one of those who backed that original CSIO kickstarter before all the implosions.
Wait a minute... so Judges Guild already got money from another licensed Kickstarter that they were supposed to use to deliver their failed CSIO Kickstarter, and they just... didn't?

As if we needed more reasons than that not to back this :ROFLMAO:

Given the work already done, I don't see Goodman Games reversing course. And given how little of the KS community is really dialed into the drama of our niche little industry, I suspect there's no great financial punishment coming their way. But I hope we all remain vocal enough that maybe, just maybe, they come to regret this decision and donate the money to worthy causes, and then never ever do this again.

That's not how money works. If they get money to support the old KS, they get to keep their own money.
If Bledsoe was currently putting in his own money and it was going to happen anyway then it would be fungible and there would be an argument that royalties going to the project are just a fungible transfer of money to Bledsoe.

I don't believe that describes the situation though. There may still be slow one person unfunded work being done but I don't expect it to be fulfilled any further as things are absent outside stuff. If outside stuff got it done that would be a positive for the original backers. At most for Bledsoe if it completes the project he can stop putting whatever energy and time he is now doing into working on it, but he does not actually gain any money.

I got a few PDFs from the old CSO kickstarter, some old ones, some minor new ones, and a bunch of maps, not really the big modern thing I was expecting though.

I wish I had gotten the d20 version of Wildlands and CSIO before the PDFs were yanked, they looked really good.

Unfortunately, after this update from Goodman Games, it seems that they have calculated that they won't financially suffer from working with the JG folks...which means that their objections at the time of the big eruption ring a bit hollow in retrospect.

I shall not be buying anything further from Goodman Games now, which is a shame.
