D&D (2024) Potential other "rules expansion" books

We know that most GMs create their own worlds and their own adventures. The game should support THAT.
I mean, a multiversal focus does implicitly support DM's making their own worlds, as long as they have some tangential connection to the broader multiverse.

Toril can always be "Prime-616", as it were, but each table can have their own "Prime-XXXXX".

I'd hate to see a flood of $30 character options that mostly appeal to people who read and collect D&D rather than play D&D, though. I don't need a repeat of 3e's Prestige Class glut or 4e's Powers Powers Everywhere. That's a blockage for onboarding new folks, it's a breeding ground for CharOp theorycrafting, and it's leaning into the Paradox of Choice
You say all these things like they're bad. :)

That's been WotC's take since at least 5e. Your Faerun is just one of countless variants all connected to the wider multiverse. So it my Faerun, the official Faerun, the 2nd edition Faerun, etc. Quite literally "its all D&D man".

That was TSR's official line in 1E for the FR, and Ed Greenwood ar least was always clear about that.

What Greenwowas also doing, that I only realized recently, was essentially DM a huge shared campaign with the Lore Enthusiasts. He always made it clear thst DMs should make the FR their own thing, but is also always will to "Yes, And..." the big Campaign he has goijg with the FR Lore fans.

I think the 2024 books put too much emphasis on the multiverse and on running published adventures.
