Are you ready for some Football (Americano)!

Yes, 2WRs, 2RBs, 1FLEX (RB, WR, TE). My league has definitely gone WR-crazy in the past four years, so I've had my success going against the grain and going RB heavy. For some reason, I've had a lot of success mining enough talent and roster juggling with WRs to complement really strong RBs, and I usually field 3 RBs in my starting lineup.
My league has a few lads who always go WR in the first round. There are a couple of others who do the same with QB. Fine by me I sez as I sweep up all the RB.

Traded Rome Odunze off of the bench for Chuba Hubbard. After a bunch of other trades here's the basement-dwelling dynasty team I've adopted and I think managed to mangle into something that make the playoffs for once.

QB: Jayden Daniels & Geno Smith
RB: Chuba Hubbard, Tony Pollard, JK Dobbins, Javonte Williams, Kaleb Johnson, Marshawn Lloyd, Jarquez Hunter, Antonio Gibson
WR: Drake London, DJ Moore, Jakobi Meyers, Chris Godwin, Wan'dale Robinson, D. Wicks, and the Jalens (McMillan/Coker/Tolbert)
TE: Evan Engram, Brenton Strange, Mason Taylor, Cole Kmet

I've got a waiver claim on Blake Corum who just got dropped, so I'll hopefully have whoever steps up when Kyren Williams (the human equivalent of "meh") inevitably fails to produce anything. I'm also hoping that Kaleb Johnson figures out how to be a starter before Dallas realizes that Javonte Williams should not be a starter.

But this is a hell of a lot better than the team where Pollard was the RB1 and the RB2 was split between legless Ameer Abdullah, Javonte Williams, and the ghost of Gus William's career and none of that was appealing. I was able to add Hubbard, Dobbins and Johnson without losing a starting-caliber player as well as breaking even on draft capital.

I had my draft last night. Oh, it was ... brutal. It's always brutal in this league, but this unfolded poorly. Maybe.

So I had the 10th pick in a 12 team league. For some reason, there was a run on RBs (unusual) before me, and I was determined to get a RB with pick 10. The only one left that was worth taking was ... Jeanty. Which ... fine. Not great value, but also bad because when it came back to me, I decided to pull the trigger and take BROCK BOWERS. Which was awesome, except now my top two picks rely on the Raiders offense.

Not great, Bob. And I quickly realized the downside of the Bowers pick. There was a run on QBs before my next pick. And I still needed to shore up RB. I took another high variance pick (Walker III). And when it came back to me, I took the only available QB I could stomach- Hurts. Which, after tonight, maybe not too bad, but not who I was hoping to end up with.

But you see the problem here. I'm four rounds in, I have a QB, TE, and 2RBs ... and that's it. I used the next pick on the next best available RB (Pacheco) and it wasn't until the sixth round that I drafted my first WR. That's right- my first WR is ... drumroll ... Zay Flowers.

Ouch.

I ended up taking Jerome Ford (RB) for depth, and loading up on interchangeable WRs - some with upside. Meyers (Raiders, again), Thielen, Palmer (Bills), Reed (GB) and I have Rashee Rice stashed on my IR (we have a single IR slot).

I also picked up Justin Fields (QB) and Ferguson (TE) for depth at the end.

This is going to be an interesting year. I don't like having all my apples in one basket, but it looks like I'm ride or die with the Bowers pick. I can usually count on getting one or two high-impact waiver wire picks, but that's easily the worst WR bunch that I've had. I usually have one WR I can count on, and then I make do with fluff and mirrors. This year? It's all fluff and mirrors and mining the waiver wire.

Then again, you should see what the other teams look like. No one gets out of the draft unscathed. One of our folks just had surgery and had to participate remotely and on a lot of drugs. In the late rounds, he picked Amari Cooper. Do you think we were gentle and understanding?

HA! Of course not.

ufh da, yeah Jeanty would have made Bowers a no go for me. One rule I do live by is to not double/triple up on players from the same team. If LV has one of those super fun 13-9 weeks...

In other news, I feel better about not going after AJ Brown.

Hurts gonna be good!

I'm fine with Hurts as my starting QB. I heard it said about him (and I agree) that he's great to have as your fantasy QB, as long as you don't watch him play. ;) Because he can look terrible all game and still end up with between 17-28 points because of the scrambles and the rushing TDs.

But that said, unless and until he remembers that he can throw the ball to talented WRs to complement the running, he'll always be a VERY HIGH floor, but limited ceiling guy. IMO, Jackson and Allen will occasionally give you the transcendent performances that might win you a game all by themselves. (In my league, Allen was the first pick of round 3, Jackson was the third, and Daniels (somewhat surprisingly) was the fourth, leaving Hurts to drop to me).
