Am I mad or does Calimshan actually acknowledge that 4th edition happened?

Making it into some sort of post apocalyptic wasteland ruled by genies with small, high tech human compounds seems a lot cooler than "everything Edward Said said not to do". That being said, has Calimshan ever been described as having steppe before?

Kochar is a Kurdish word for nomad.
There's a few different horse cultures in the regions inspiring Calimsham, but none that I would consider "steppes"

Looking into it, yes, the Coram Steppes, named after an ancient nomads king of ghe region named Coram the Warrior.

Might be more developed here, and almost certainly better developed, than prior, but stepped in the East of the desert are named established thing, even by the word Steppe.

There are a lot of stepped in Faerûn, like The Ride to the North of the Moonsea, or Narfell.

I mean...Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran all have Steppe...like in Kjrdistan, or the historic homeland of the Turks.

Interestingly, going back to the Grey Box and other early FR material, the Anauroch gets called out as including a lot of steppeland within it's borders, not just straight desert.

Wonder if the Backgroujd associated with the Anauroch will be a "Steppe Nomad" sort of deal, that can also apply in areas like The Ride near the Moonsea, Calimshan, or Narfell...
