What was your 2nd RPG?

...star frontiers, i think, although we branched out pretty quickly around that time...

Moldvay Basic D&D. I was introduced to gaming through AD&D but could only get the Basic set in local stores... so we switched over to that until we could get the AD&D books.

...we never distinguished between OD+D / holmes / moldvay and AD+D as separate games; like a lot of groups, everyone we played with considered the latter to be a superset of the former...

First was B/X, second was Gamma World (1E).

Third was probably Star Frontiers, and then it all gets blurry with Marvel Super Heroes, the James Bond rpg, Gangbusters, and even the Indiana Jones game (that sacrificed itself to give us the Diana Jones award).

I'm going to say a particularly obscure game called Starfaring. Its not impossible I actually got Metamorphosis Alpha or Empire of the Petal Throne first, however.

The correlation of Runequest/Traveller answers and gray hair (or no hair) has to be off the charts.

My beard is almost all grey and white, but the hair on top of my head is still all brown. Runs in Mom’s family - she’s 95 and has less than 10 grey hairs.

AD&D was undoubtably first by at least a year.

2nd & 3rd happened in rapid succession, and I no longer recall which was next- Traveller or The Fantasy Trip/In the Labyrinth. (My gut suspects Traveller was actually 3rd, though.)

When it was released, Champions became my 4th, and was my last until about 1990.

My second was either Traveller or AD&D. I joined as player in both during the same year 1981 (or maybe late 1980), I can't say which was first.
My first RPG was The Fantasy Trip as Game Master.
