D&D 5E (2024) Faerunian Backgrounds, what would you like to see?

Now that Heroes of Faerun has introduced us to setting-specific backgrounds for 2024 D&D, I can imagine that quite a number of us want more of them for the Forgotten Realms. ;) One Faerunian background that I have been musing on and off for a while now is the Tymanther Lance Scout. In the former nation of Tymanther, every Dragonborn from every clan who reaches adulthood has to spend two years as a member of Tymanther's military (aka the Lance Defenders) and help protect their nation from potential threats such as rogue dragons. At the end of their two-year service, most of the Lance Defenders go back to being civilians where they pick up one of the many generic backgrounds. A few of them, however, stay in service as members of the Soldier background. Fewer still are those Dragonborn who are picked from the ranks of the Lance Defenders and promoted to Lance Scout, an elite member of Tymanther's military. These Lance Scouts are then sent out, in either groups or by themselves, to go beyond the borders of Tymanther and learn more about Faerun and its' various non-scaly peoples. ;)

Now even though Tymanther is gone, I can see the Tymanther Lance Scout still being around for their people who have been scattered across Faerun.

Well, this is one Faerunian background I would like to see in 2024 D&D. What would the rest of you like to see here in terms of setting-specific backgrounds?

I quite like most of the new backgrounds, although more of them should have had new origin feats rather than regurgitating those from the Player's Handbook.

Some half-baked ideas:
  • Chultan Dino Rider, proficiency in Animal Handling and Acrobatics.
  • Lantan Clockwork Apprentice, for artificers or spellcasters.
  • Moorlander, applicable to Evermoors, High Moors, etc. Proficiency in Giant, can ignore Difficult terrain if it's caused by liquid.

Bhaalspawn (character is one of Bhaal's chosen or children, can choose to indulge or resist it, just like the Dark Urge in Baldur's Gate 3).

Mechanically I have no idea how it would work, but it could be awesome.

I don't know if I need more "universal" Faerunian backgrounds myself-- backgrounds from wider and more varied locations across the continent-- because that just means if/when I was to run a campaign in a certain area, the characters would all have backgrounds from places outside of that area. It's like... I'm running a game in the Dales, but one person's background has them coming from Thay, another from The North, another from Baldur's Gate, another connected to Chult, etc. Everyone's character history has them from every place except the location where the game is actually taking place, LOL! Kinda defeats the purpose in my opinion.

So if I was to run a game in the Dales for instance... I'd spend my time creating a handful of backgrounds specifically connected to the Dales for my players to choose from (or iterate upon.) That way almost every PC has a connection to where the campaign is taking place and has more of a care and concern for what is going on.

What is the current list? I don't have access, so it's hard for me to say what else I'd like to be there. :)
