I see nothing wrong with this, haha. Then again, I am an American who loves to cook...

Also, always wince when I see someone clowning on "stay-at-home" moms as if they don't know how to prepare easy tasty meals.
I didn't create this meme, just happened across it. I'm not in the author's head, but I don't think the intent is to 'clown on "stay-at-home" moms'. I think the focus there is on 'don't know how to cook'. As in, the content creators who trot out recipes like the Three Ingredient Chocolate Cookie where one of the ingredients is... a box of cake mix. You put the wrong emph-AH-sis on the wrong syll-AH-ble :)

Somewhere around here, I have a New Orleans Saints “team cookbook” from the 1980s. Apparently, everyone on the team was expected to contribute a recipe of some kind.

And in its pages, the field goal/PAT kicker*, the punter, and a third guy (probably the long snapper) teamed up to present their recipe for macaroni & cheese.

Let’s just say that the photo accompanying the recipe was the three of them holding up a well-known blue box.

Understood. I think it's slightly personal because I used to poke fun at "mommy bloggers" when I first started to use the internet to learn new recipes (since I saw others doing it so much), but quickly came to find out that bad recipes come from everywhere, so didn't make much sense to single them out (the trendy recipes on TikTok are way worse). Slightly misogynistic in a way too, I think. So, I wince.

While we're talking about wincing though, crazy they put Salt Hank (son of Leo LaPorte (Tech TV)) on there! Dude runs a pop-up restaurant in NYC, is praised by the likes of Ramsey and Matheson, and is blast to watch cook (probably why he has over 2 million followers). Think there's some jealousy there...

Now I have to go look up Salt Hank...

Here's one of my favorites burger sauces:
Feral Sauce (A riff on In-and-Out's Animal Style Sauce)
  • 1 white oninon
  • 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp. + pinch kosher salt, divided
  • 2 tsp. + black pepper, divided
  • 2 Tbsp. + dash Worcestershire sauce, divided
  • 1 cup mayo
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp finely minced dill pickle
  • 2 Tbsp finely minced chives
  • Squeeze fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  1. Caramelize onions in a pan over medium heat with butter, pinch of salt, pinch of black pepper, and dash of Worcestershire. Cook, stirring repeatedly, until browned, about 45 min. Remove onions and refrigerate for 15 min. to cool.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl and store in a sealed container for up to 2 weeks in fridge.

One reason some of that comes off as misogynistic is because it's not really recipes, it's fetish content.
Reworded my post to (hopefully) read better. I was trying to say singling out "mommy bloggers" was slightly misogynistic, not the TikTok content. And only slightly, since a good part of the hate is a misunderstanding of the long stories and "fluff" that's used to game the Google algorithms.

Not that it makes your comment here invalid! :D
