What rpg system would you use for a 60+ session fantasy campaign?

Right now? AD&D 1st Edition - it's the only major version of the game that I've never run.

For the most part, though, I'd be happy with more or less any reasonably-crunchy game (or edition of D&D). I'd probably default to 5e or one of the near-clones, due to recent familiarity, but am not wedded to it.

Something like Labyrinth Lord, probably tweaked to not have classes and thus more flexible character creation and development, and aimed at taking characters from 1st level to punching out gods from Legends & Lore.

I am (pleasantly) surprised by the amount of love for RM going on in this thread. Even if RMU specifically is of no interest to me, I'm happy to see it introducing people to the wider RM fold.

I'm currently seven sessions into the first game I've ever run in the Forgotten Realms (with any system), using my own version of RMSS. It's going great so far, and I'd love it if we get to 60+ sessions.

I'm sometimes amazed that people will assume a post placed in this subforum still bakes in D&D assumptions in its question, but I suppose given the bias of this forum toward D&D as a whole that's kind of inevitable.
If they are just clicking on the Community button up top, they don't see a threaded format, but just everything piled into a single mega-forum. So I think a lot of the time, they don't know they aren't in a D&D subforum at a given moment.

I always check, but that's because I know that I generally need to avoid throwing opinions around in 5e threads. For someone who is here for D&D, and especially 5e, I suspect it's very easy to overlook the fact that any other sort of discussion happens.

That's true. And the web location line (which is usually visible all the time with most browsers) doesn't mention what subforum its in; you'd have to scroll up to the top and look at the internal location line.
