Just from quickly skimming the rough/early WiP player's guide mearls put out with his most recent post I'll say that oddesy is looking very much like it could the higher bar 5.24 should have aimed for over the compatibility above all or else bar we got

I'd be very surprised if the issues being discussed in this thread, around high level play and the power of control spells, has much impact on the sales of 5e D&D.

Well biggest most popular D&D ever vs someone at ENworld saying make my D&D. I would have preferred 6E myself but its understandable. Let's down everything our fans like wouldn't be a great idea.

Espicially they tried different and it blew up in their face. 5E fans weren't wanting 6E to any great extent.
