Whamageddon (Last) Christmas

I still havent heard it! I dont listen to radio and most of my presents were ordered online. I was on one Christmas market, but it was a more traditional one with classic christmas and church music (I'm in Germany). But friday is my last work day and I will have much more time to go on christmas markets and enjoy the holidays, much higher danger!

I didn't even know this was a thing, but even with listening to very little radio music, I've still heard it multiple times already, including once while getting gasoline.

This contest feels as winnable as being asked to get into the boxing ring for a 10 round bout and saying, "You win if you don't get punched."

My favorite local gas station just blasts music outside of the store, night and day. Like, way too loud. It's really surprising, considering I live in the burbs. You'd think someone would be mad about it, but I've been here almost a year now and it's been like this the whole time. It's usually Electronic/Club music, but they've switched over to christmas music now.

I was thinking about that the other night, I stopped for gas after coming home from the LGS around 11pm or so and getting bombarded by Mariah Carey. If I hadn't been knocked out already, this place would probably get me on a drive-by.

I wouldn't say favorite, but certainly preferred. I live in the suburbs and probably have six gas stations in a one mile radius, and pass twice that many on the way to work. When you're spoiled for choice you can play favorites.
I do not have a favourite gas station. Well, other than "which is closest to where I am right now?"

I have two. One is virtually always the lowest price in the area and only rarely ever has a pump that's out of service, while the other is closer, generally has a price that approaches the cheapest one, and has a good touch-free car wash for when I need it.

Do people have favourite gas stations?
Sorta.

There’s one between our house & our church that Mom likes because of ease of access…to get her lottery tickets. (We almost never get gas there, though.)

We’re such regulars that the guy who is usually working that shift will print Mom’s new tickets as soon as he sees me walk in the door to check her old ones.

And there’s a couple in my usual stomping grounds that have notably cleaner bathrooms and routinely competitive gas prices- enough so that I almost have blinders on when looking to refuel nearby.

Beyond that?

Well, some stations (in the USA, at least, and certainly elsewhere) have expanded their offerings in such a way that gas is just the bait. There’s ones we plan on hitting when traveling on certain interstate highways because of their seafood fritters, jerky, catfish, preserves, bacon wrapped quail eggs, BBQ, stuffed olives, kolaches and other foods.

…and there’s similar (but smaller) ones in certain neighborhoods. There’s a gas station near my mom’s childhood home in NOLA that makes po’ boys as good as anywhere in the city.
