MCU movies are more than that it seems. Even good ones are getting around 400 million apart from GotG3 and Deadpool+Wolverine.

I think people blaming streaming for Bo numbers miss the big picture. Covid didn't kill the BP as much as show that there were alternatives and cast a light over how little the typical BO experience gives you for the price. Trying to go back to exclusive windows won't bring the numbers back- it's not the windows as much as it's the fact that people realize the terrible experience they've been shoveled for premium prices.

The people's eyes are opened and they can't put that back in the box.

Speak for yourself! I, for one, had wondered for ages why Han always called Chewbacca "Chewie." Such a mystery!

Solo has a lot to like in it, but it commits what I consider a grave sin - the prequel that explains everything (or worse yet, explains every overt thing). So we're told not just how he got the Falcon, or met Chewie, but both! Plus the very important explanations of why he has the gun he has and why he wears the outfit he wears? Yeesh.

I'm the exact opposite. I don't want to be wondering where the other heroes are. Just have one verse just like it is in the comics.

Agreed. They have the film and tv rights to all (?) the Marvel characters now, so what's the point in having those rights if theyre not going to mix and match at least a little? Especially when the appeal of the brand is a universe of characters that do their own thing but also team up regularly/frequently. And practically speaking, they're going to crossover whatever they think will fill seats (in theaters or in homes).

What theme unifies the multiverse era of films?

The theme of a universe where you're made out of paint-like goo.

A hypothesis for some of Avengers: Doomsday's plot: Doom is mad at the "sacred timeline" heroes for mucking about with time travel - and especially mad at Rogers for going back to be with Peggy and having a baby - all of which is what caused the incursions, which killed his mother and maybe his reality.

Do we know yet whether Dr Doom is a variant of Tony Stark, or is this just a case of RDJ playing two different characters?

Could be the former given this is part of the multiverse saga, but we’ve had a few instances of the latter before so there is precedent.

It's probably more dramatic for everyone if Doom is a variant Tony, so that's what I'm assuming until told/shown otherwise. That doesn't jibe with a Doom from the 60's FF-verse, but hey - multiverse + time travel.

I think that would be a huge mistake. No one cares about the multiverse stuff - they can't avoid using it a little, but they ought to downplay it as much as possible, not lean into it hard. Besides, RDJ is happy to play unrecognisable characters. He could do an accent, wear the mask, and have massive scar makeup when he has the mask off.

I really, really hope that you (and the massive thrust of internet speculation) are wrong, here. Or if not, they somehow do something that I can't imagine to make it work.

I think one of the problem with big IPs, Fandoms and anticipation/secrets is that people make their own prejudgement of what is going to/should happen instead of waiting for the story to unfold thus baking in disappointment and failure
