Anything but D&D

There are several threads on this over the last couple years. Some of it is time where I only have so many hours to play games and why would I take away from playing something I know I like. Some of it is cost in buying more books and such. Some is finding people to play with and DnD always has people to play. It is a circle thing to some extent. Why would I watch baseball when I know I like to watch football- that kind of thing.

The last session I was in was Monster of the Week (as a player; it's not really my kind of game). I also played Dungeon Crawl Classics recently, and the game I currently run (on holiday hiatus) uses the Level Up rules.

I guess my big question is: what games beyond WotC 5e/5.5 count as "D&D" to you? Everyone has a different answer.

I've played some Monster of the Week and run my own games A Minimalist Fantasy Affair (Embellished Edition) and Black Aegis (Redacted Edition) last year (the former is available on Itch and the latter is currently in editing). I plan to run some Pulp Cthulhu this year.

[Edit: Happy birthday!]

Seriously, does anyone here besides me play anything else? I've got four game stores where I live and can't find so much as one other player for anything that isn't D&D.
Do what I did so many years ago and run a game at the store.

Early 2000s it was GURPS and Traveller. I got much more success with Traveller and the rest was history.

It can be a slow start and you will run a lot. But if you persist through the days of no shows and low numbers eventually folks will hear and show up and give it a try.

It helped to start a community that continues to grow now.

I have scenarios ready to run in FASA's =1879=, Blue Planet V2, and FATE. I'm working on a PtbA adaptation of Jo Clayton's Skeen trilogy. I ran Earthdawn for many years. I've got Shadows of Esteren on the shelf waiting for me to have time for it. My longest Play By Post game was in White Wolf 1E, using all 5 games (Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, Wraith, and Changeling).

I have an aversion specifically to D&D as a property, including all editions and the fandom, for a number of reasons, some of which are part of why I left the gaming industry six years ago. Don't ask me to provide details unless you're prepared for some scathing criticism that may offend you.

Not a fan of WotC's game (or WotC themselves, for that matter), so feel free to fire away!

That being said, I don't care for FATE or PBtA games either.
