Trailer Avengers: Doomsday | Only in Theaters December 18, 2026

I assume Sue flirts with Namor in the comics or something?

Also, I note that Namor and the Atlanteans, despite being in the teaser, don't get a mention at the end. (Just the Wakandans and the FF.)

Will Namor be a secondary villain, teaming up with Dr Doom, or more of an anti-hero who has to be convinced to help?

Note: I've not read any Marvel comics, and I don't mind spoilers, so feel free to explain!

Based on the comics, the premise of these movies, and Namor's disposition in Wakanda Forver, it's not hard to imagine Namor working with Doom...for a while...

Yes, there is something of a competition for Sue's affections between Namor and Reed in many FF stories.
Thanks. Now, wasn't there some kind of rights issue with using Namor in the MCU? Like they can only use him as part of an ensemble but they can't make a movie specifically about him? Something like that?

For a long time there were weird "rules" based on how things were licensed. My guess is that Namor was part of the FF "group" and that seems to be back in the hands of Marvel.

It was just OK, but they picked a Namor who probably has more sexual charisma than the rest of the MCU combined. (Sorry, Jeremy Renner stans.) I don't know if they're going to have him hit on Sue, but if so, Reed is going to have his hands full.
You really don't need to apologize to people if they don't exist.

Oooooo Oh Snap GIF

Namor openly hits on Sue more or less constantly in the comics, right in front of Reed. In a few stories, she seems genuinely interested, since Reed is not a great husband (or person, honestly).

No, you've got it. Namor has been a hero, a villain, an anti-hero, a force of chaos, etc. It's impossible to know what side he'll start off on and where he'll end the two-movie story, although Disney seems to have figured out they need to stop killing villains off, so he'll presumably survive.

IMPERIUS REX! (Stan Lee Namor was also a terrible Latin student.)

I am still baffled they didn't just recast Kang.
It was already going off the rails before that. This was their chance to reset. The only thing good in Quantumania was Kang, in all honesty. And considering the depth (or lack of) what happened with him, I think they could have gone on with him if it was working at that time.
