It wasn't sexual, it was compassion. A person just might want to have a warm body next to them. I never thought to ask my mom what it was like adjusting to not having my dad there after nearly 40 years.
I, on the other hand, would find it hard to have someone next to me like that. I'm even uncomfortable with a dog on the bed.

It's fun to laugh at people and to giggle at the idea of sex robots, but this could be a positive thing for so many people in lot of ways, sex just being a fraction of it.

No, it has to mean internal temperature (and in fact the article says a human core temperature of 32-6C, which is a bit low but I guess Moya isn’t going to get hypothermia). If it means human surface temperature, that’s not an achievement, that’s basically what it would be normally depending on the materials. And of course temperature - or at least not being cold - is important for medical devices, but it’s not that important.

And the reason why drone laws were introduced around here was because they became so cheap that they became a nuisance and sometimes a danger, before that there were very few laws for radio controlled aircraft. And the laws for wheeled drones also don't exist.

This is typical technophile nonsense. Having guard rails does not mean an end to progress. it means actively consideirng the potential for harm done and trying to mitigate it.

People should have access to any technology that hasn't proven to be a threat. There were people for the banning of computers back in the day, just as there were people calling for the banning of rock and roll. i don't know if my C64 was 'evil'(TM), but if we capitulated to those people back in the day, you wouldn't be typing on this board today.

The problem with anything and rules for them is that the folks that don't care for the rules will ignore them. So if am android is clearly marked by all looking like a Minion(TM), there will be people that don't care for the rules and will make illegal androids and because that's the exception, people will notice less.

Issue #1: Android now looks like a sex doll instead of looking indistinguishable from a human. The hardware just isn't there (yet) and won't be for a long time.
Issue #2: Android costs $173k. Maybe the 1% can afford to buy it, but the 1% stays the 1% because it doesn't throw away it's money on useless toys (in most cases).
Issue #3: Android won't act like a human because the software isn't there yet and won't be for a LONG time.

Body temperature means core temperature, yes. No guns jumped.

About the only reason I can see to have a heating element* in this robot is to hug people, which is… fine and companionable, I guess? As Aeson says, this might be more what people want than a body pillow or hot water bottle or whatever.

*Unless it runs hotter than that and it can also make hot drinks or cook food internally. Which I really don’t think is what they’re going for, but I can’t deny that would be handy.

Let's get real nerdy. This could be the ultimate GM. Sound effects, soundtrack, different voices. Encyclopedic knowledge of ALL of the rules for every edition of every game. A built in dice tower. To be fair, huamns share 98% of our DNA with chimps and there are still some pretty notable differences. Because...yeah, that 8% (how do they measure it?) seems like it makes a pretty big difference.

Patients are routinely asked what would help, their input is important. It doesn’t need a special device, generally - for instance, when using a speculum to take a cervical smear or insert an IUD, you warm it under the hot tap first or similar routinely. An android could do the same, they don’t need a circulatory system.

I take exception to this, but from a pro-technology stance. The human form isn't actually good for anything. There's nothing something human-shaped can do that a device with a shape specifically designed for that task can't do better. John Henry is just a fairy tale.

Even if the task in question was to interact with humans in a friendly manner you would be better served to have it look like some kind of chibi cartoon character and/or only exist on a screen. Cartoon characters are superstimulus; they look cuter and more inviting than a real human. Making something that can pass for a real human is like making making a totally synthetic candy that tastes, feels, and smells exactly like a real orange - in a world where actual candy (Like Milky Way Bars, or gummi fruit slices) exists
