Looking to commission art...

I am looking to pay someone for a little artwork for a game.

For an upcoming live-action game, I would like to make faux NASA "program/mission" patches (and possibly stickers, magnets, etc) for my fellow players for costume use and as mementos.

I intend to pay for them out of my own pocket, and do not intend to sell them for profit. Artist can retain right to use the work for their portfolio, etc.

I can provide a basic design sketch.

Final required format: you can work in your preferred medium, so long as in the end I get some common digital image format, 300+ dpi, round, 3" and 4" diameter versions. Note that final art will be submitted to a service to embroider patches, so level of detail and color palate should keep that in mind.

No AI submissions, please.

If you are interested, please drop me a line through the Private Message system to discuss details and rates.

If you are not an artist, but know one who might be interested, I would be happy to take referrals.

I would love such things as laptop/phones case stickers!

I got some logos done by Claudio Pozas recently. He might be a little pricey for what you want to use them for though.

I had some great art commissioned by Tim Shepherd several years ago that I still integrate into my games whenever I can. Not sure what his rates would be these days though. Attached the specific work he did below, if you're curious.

One of the cool things is going to the Artists' Alley in conventions and seeing what's about. There's usually some great artists who haven't been discovered yet, and it's always cool to pull out a character illo later and go, "This was done by so-and-so, before they were cool!"

Excellent idea. Unfortunately, there aren't local cons at this time of year, and I need to consider the lead time for the artist and then also getting patches made. Thus coming online to check.

And, you know just wanting to support my community. If there's an artist on the site (or a short hop from it) who wants a few bucks, all the better, right?

Some of that is gorgeous stuff! What I'm looking for is far simpler than those pieces, but there'll be no harm in asking - so I can add his name to the contact list, thank you!

Yeah - that's the thought. In a previous multi-year game, we developed a tradition of players making things for each other. This is my way of carrying that into this game.

Huh. It is a thought. If I am polite, it can't really hurt to ask. So, onto the list that name goes! Thanks for the idea, Morrus!

Given the prices that pros would charge. Would you consider a starving college student working/studying in graphic design? Her internship work and other professional pieces are probably at the level of detail you are looking for.

Sure! I've been a starving student, and know it isn't fun, so if she's interested at least exchanging e-mails with me about it, we can see if she'd like to take a stab at it.

I can PM you an e-mail address she can use to contact me. Would that be reasonable?
