As Siobhan moved in to attack Merrick, the warrior saw an opening on her and struck her with his Glaive once again.

Merrick takes half damage from Siobhan (marked it on my sheet)

Polearm Master gives Merrick a free Attack of Opportunity
Attack of opportunity on Siobhan: 2D20.HIGH(1)+5 = [13, 16]+5 = 21
Glaive Damage: 1D10+5 = [4]+5 = 9

Seeing the overwhelming odds, Merrick decides it's time to retreat. He frantically uses sign language to signal a retreat.

He needs space to run so is forced to go on the offense before he retreats. His attack is solid, hopefully dropping Siobhan. He sweeps out the butt end of his polearm to sweep the feet out of the other mercenaries that are pushing forward.

Finally, he does a mighty Salmon Leap backwards and moves around the corner, ready to attack anyone who comes around.

Attack Siobhan: 2D20.HIGH(1)+5 = [3, 18]+5 = 23
Attack Siobhan: 1D10+5+1D6+3 = [1]+5+[2]+3 = 11
Wow! These damage rolls are awful - but still good enough to take out Siobhan assuming both the attack of opportunity and this attack hits.

Attack Mercenary unit:
Attack mercenaries with polearm master: 2D20.HIGH(1)+5 = [8, 11]+5 = 16 Hit

damage mercenaries with polearm master: 1D4+5 = [3]+5 = 8

It doesn't do enough damage to finish them but I'm narrating it as if Merrick is knocking them down in a tangled mess.

I have 50 feet of movement so I'll move back to A MINIMUM of BB 19ish area. Even Further depending on how far the others move. I want to be around the corner but I want to be the last person back So, I'm going to assume everyone does a full move out....

TACTICS:
I'd recommend that Shamal take an AoO so he can do a full move out of the room....or wait until Torhak shoots the mercenaries and finishes them off. It would be best if we were all out of the room so they can't train missile weapons and spells on us.

Team Caves -- URGAN
OOC: I think Urgan had 2 THP, which means he's at HP 22, THP 0, but I might be mistaken.

With the arrival of the cultists, Urgan is thinking that escape might be the best option. Perhaps the mercenaries could be used to...

but thinking was never Urgan's problem. Doing was, and the craftsman who had wanted some adventure was now fearing for his life. It was time to withdraw. In a flash, Merrick had appeared to take out Siobhan, and attack the Mercenaries. No retreat yet, it seems the orc thinks to himself.

Urgan steps forward, conscious that his spells have not been effective, and swings his staff at the soldiers.

He cracks the skull of one, and his staff carries on to another, and another. A twinge in his spine sparks, as he channels the hate of his orcish heritage. The magically infused staff takes out the mercenaries, who collectively fall to the ground.

Time to go.

Urgan withdraws, and turns, and runs, catching up to Scamp who is patinetly waiting for his master.

OOC: Move 10' to BH 24.
Action: Attack with True Strike. 1d20+6=15 1d6+4=7 Radiant. Killing them?
Move: 20' to BD22.
Bonus: Adrenaline Rush. Dash 30' to BA17-ish. + 2THP (so he should be at 22 HP, 2 THP, with zero Adrenaline rushes left)

Aside: I wanted to punch them, because 1+4 radiant damage would have been enough, but true strike doesn't work without a weapon.

TEAM FUSION - SUBJECT:SHADE-9 - Beyond the Magic Mirror ...

Shade-9 stood before the veil as the others made their way around the bend and pass the fallen stalactite, lanterns highlighting their path now that the immediate dangers had been avoided. Not that the dangers had ended.
[ARCANE SENSOR ANALYSIS: Arcane Veil imposed over Archway
FIELD SIGNATURE: Necromancy Dominant | Conjuration and Evocation Secondary
[ENERY BEHAVIOR: Selective Permeability - Acute Necrotic Rejection of Organic Entities
[CAUTION: Interaction of Organic Entities likely to suffer acute system failure

Shade-9 stood before the veil, considering the nature and purpose of the shimmering curtain that caused the spirit Sapphirion to recoil, fur bristling,
The barrier is a necrotic filtration field” he turned and reported to the others as they gathered closer It permits passage only to entities classified as "Unliving".
Any living creature will experience catastrophic necrotic rejection upon contact. I do not know if that result would be fata
l

He paused then, as he looked over each member of the team, lingering for a moment of Aywin, considering the genasi' elemental nature.

"the path is viable for me" he continued turning back to the veil and stepping closer "the veil is a gateway and I am willing to do forward reconnaissance but I will require darkness"

[OBJECTIVE: Reconaisance | Threat Assessment | Assess Path Viability
[CAUTION] Unknown Conditions Beyond the Veil - Maintain Stealth and High Alert

The warforged stalker tentatively extended a hand towards the veil, seeking first to test its response, trusting in the shadows to keep himself concealed

Torhak moves our of cover just long enough to cast a spell. He considers buying time for others to regroup and enable ranged superiority for at least some time by entangling the cultists, but seeing them spread out decides against it.

Instead he marks Bardaby, pulls the string on his bow, imbues the arrow with the hatred of the slavers and lets go. Guided by divine will and dark hatred, the arrow penetrates the armor with a small burst of force and a scream only Bardaby could hear.

Torkah fades back into cover.

TL;DR: hits AC 24 for 24 damage 11 piercing 5 force and 8 psychic
Move: BD22
Swift: Free 1/2 Hunters mark on Bardaby
Action: Longbow vs Bardaby: 2d20.HIGH(1)+6 = [18, 13]+6 = 24; 1d8+4+1d6+2d6 = [7]+4+[5]+[4,4] = 24
OOC: still 24 even if no advantage, I went with advantage from being hidden

Move: BB23

OOC: Entangle after they advance? So we can bottleneck and mass kill them?

TEAM FUSION - AYWIN

Aywin is visibly uncomfortable at letting Shade-9 go beyond the veil alone. However, he recognizes that the potential threats need to be assessed. He sighs, an almost unnatural length of time, and puts his hand on Shade-9's shoulder and says: "Thank you for bravery, my friend. Don't linger and come right back if things are too dangerous. We just need to know what could potentially attack us from behind".

TEAM FUSION - Lorent

"Don't be stupid in there if you go. I don't think you should. You might be a construct, but you're alive. We don't need the passage that bad."

Team Fusion

Lorent was possibly right that Shade-9 had achieved a level of existence that caused him to count as "living" relative to the veil. Or perhaps he simply seemed to do. He reached a hand toward it while preparing to stick to any shadows he found inside, if he survived the experience.

OOC: @Tonguez, unless you want to change your mind, give me a CON Save and a Stealth Check, both with Advantage.

Team Fusion - Terrin

Terrin conceals the light of his lamp at Shade-9's request by removing it from the end of his staff and replacing it into his backpack.

He cautions his warforged companion about his course of action. "Although you appear as one who is crafted, I perceive that who or what ever made you endowed you with a living soul. Please accept this modicum of protection from my Lady."

He places his hand gently on the warforged's shell and speaks a word from a far-off and ancient sounding tongue. "Šumšu Muštūtu!"

OOC: Terrin casts resistance on Shade-9, choosing Necrotic damage.

Shade-9 heard the words of concern and guidance from the others behind him, and once more felt that unbidden shift in his logic routines: was this emotion? For a moment the Warforged Stalker paused reassessing his current focus as his systems recalibrated.

[MISSION DECLARATION: Solo Infiltration Beyond Necromantic Veil
[OBJECTIVE: Reconaisance | Threat Assessment | Assess Path Viability
[OBJECTIVE UPDATE: Protect the Team
]

Shade-9 determined that he wanted to do this, if he was alive then this would be certain proof and if his constructed nature prevailed then he would be able to secure the concealed room for the benefit of his companions.

He also heard the concerned voices, as he extended his hand, he would need to move with caution, testing the veil and its reaction to contact, before proceeding through it and if he felt an adverse reaction he would abort immediately.

OOC:
Con Check1D20+2 = [12]+2 = 14
reroll Expert Stealth Check: 1D20+3+4 = [6]+3+4 = 13 <=Advantage
(Luckily I had advantage I rolled a 1 on my first check!! Expert Stealth Check: 1D20 = [1]
