Wizards of the Coast is getting back into the Actual Play game. Today, Wizards announced via Variety that they are launching a new Actual Play show called Dungeon Masters, starring Jasmine Bhullar as the Dungeon Master along with players Mayanna Berrin, Christian Navarro, Neil Newbon and Devora Wilde. Wilde and Newbon are veterans of Baldur's Gate 3, a smash hit for the Dungeons & Dragons IP. However, both actors will be playing new characters and not their Baldur's Gate 3 characters.

Of note is that the show will feature "official, unreleased D&D content" which will be put up for sale on D&D Beyond following every episode. The first arc takes place in Ravenloft and will feature content from Ravenloft: The Horrors Within. New episodes will be released weekly on YouTube, starting on April 22nd.

Wizards of the Coast previously produced several official D&D Actual Play series, including Dice, Camera, Action and Force Grey. Dice, Camera, Action was their flagship D&D program for years until it unceremoniously ended due to a scandal involving two of its players.

Since they mention Dimension 20, that might be the format they're doing. Three month campaigns for around 12 sessions in whatever season it's in, except they might not have to change characters for every season. (I personally would love new focused characters but you know, that don't create audience familiarity.)

Set seasons works well for hyping the next big D&D product. Ravenloft this time, the Thay adventure next time, whatever Season of Champions is after that, etc.

And since everyone in this cast has a lot of other freelance gigs they do to pay the bills, this kind of schedule means they can knock out a bunch of episodes at once and then have the rest of the time free for other voice work.

Good question. If I were the DM, it'd probably be simple stuff like custom monsters and magic items, but I could also see them releasing mini-settings and such, like a haunted tower in Sithicus, etc.
Someone upthread posted the description and it sounds like a single encounter type situation. I am curious whether that encounter is guaranteed to be in the stream that "advertises" it. Not that it is a big deal -- streaming games aren't like "real" games in certain regards. I am just wondering.

Given that they almost certainly are filming this all way in advance, the process may be the other way around, with something that Jasmine created for the game then being cleaned up and offered for sale for folks who want the encounter/site, etc. I think the resulting product would probably be better if that's the way it was created.

Oh, I did not think of the idea that it wasn't live. I thought most streams were live. (I don't watch any of them live, and usually only indulge clip shows and specific moments.)
