    Here's a tool that I use a lot:

Wow, you guys are so witty! I can't believe I didn't think about free tools before. I mean golly gee, what a swell idea! Do you not know what sarcasm is? How about you go sizzuck a dizzick. Can you understand that? Just throwing some thoughts out, but no, gotta get on your high horse b/c...

    Here's a tool that I use a lot:

My Notes Keeper: http://www.mynoteskeeper.com/ Basically, it uses a hierarchical tree view to organize "notes". DM Genie has something similar to this, but this app features far better text formatting and text control/manipulation than DM Genie. It also allows you to embed pictures in-line, as...

What to do about PC death?

I'm a new DM (and player for that matter) with little experience. So, if a PC dies but I don't really want to kill off the character entirely...what are some good ways to have the PCs bring the dead character back to life? What kinds of sacrifices could/should they make? Whats costs (not gp)...

    Tyrants of the Nine...

Thanks Ordbyrht. I appreciate the guidance. I don't mind the older edition at all. I'm just trying to find plot elements that I can use/interweave into my own campaign. Making conversion to later editions is a non-issue. I've definitely thought about presenting the PC's with a Faustian Pact...

    Tyrants of the Nine...

Just picked up Tyrants of the Nine Hells book and read it. Now I'm looking for some good story arcs with which to create a campaign (or a few adventures). Anyone got some ideas they want to throw out? Or know of some ready-made modules that I may look at? Basically, I'm looking for any ideas...

    OpenRPG 1.7.1 Released!

I would even do it myself, but I never use the virtual tabletop apps... :( (thats kinda why I suggested it, I guess)

    OpenRPG 1.7.1 Released!

you know, I don't mean to be "any type of way" in saying this, but the one thing that I think really helps getting a new piece of software adopted by the community is having a tutorial screencast demonstrating the app. It just takes so much effort to "get into" a new program and read the manual...

What do you prefer: scripts or applications?

Make it an app..why? Because are always more robust (at least potentially). And as long as you open the source, it will be plenty extensible. Once you build the core generation functionality, anyone can apply it to a different UI, winforms or ASP.

    HeroLab

I have to, once again, ditto the DM Genie comments...I just wish it had a better GUI. This is it's only downfall, but then again that is a lot of functionality that I'm asking to be made into a better UI.

What's the best NPC generating software outthere?

I'm not aware of any errors either, just wasn't sure either way.

What's the best NPC generating software outthere?

I vote NPC Designer when used in conjunction with DM Genie. But can the latest version of DMG stat block import feature work NPCD's stat blocks? Not sure.

D20 Engine - DESIGN (forget code)

Karan, I love your idea. I had been thinking that I was going to have to create a class for every single object in the game - every class, race, item, spell, etc. (and that if the whole thing was open source, then it would be extensible *enough* even though hardcoded) While I would like to...
