Reincarnate or "I'm a bugbear now what?"

It would be easier just to simplify the whole thing and say that you basically stay the same as your old character, and only your appearance changes. NPCs would react to you as if you were a bugbear (or kobold, etc). You would have to apply size modifiers if you weren't the same size as your...

    Coup de grace when prone?

Well, thanks for the input everyone, you've been very helpful. I'm almost convinced - all I have to do now is convince the DM when we play tomorrow it can be allowed! :)

    Coup de grace when prone?

Surely being asleep is worse than being stunned? My kids were always dropping stuff out of their pushchair when they fell asleep!

    Coup de grace when prone?

I object to it because the saving throw is almost impossible to pass! Heck, you could quite easily kill a dragon with it! (Of course, finding a sleeping dragon isn't easy! :) ) Automatic crit I can live with (within normal circumstances), just make the save easier to pass!. Oh, and it can be...

    Coup de grace when prone?

We are playing 3.0, sorry if it wasn't clear. With a few 3.5 house rules, but nothing that affects the command spell or combat. :)

    Coup de grace when prone?

Ah, but Kemrain, time is of the essence. Command only lasts 1 round. 1 round = 6 seconds = not long at all! Otherwise, no problem at all with the whole thing. (apart from CDG being sick) Would making CDG take more than a single round make it (IMHO) a bit more balanced? Oh, and can you Trip and...

    Coup de grace when prone?

It does indeed! As I said, overpowered.. :( I've no problem with the whole CDG thing out of combat. But -4 to hit the target with all the inherent penalties the target has to AC. If it hits, then automatic crit, and (almost impossible) FORT save, a' la standard CDG Course he is! He...

    Coup de grace when prone?

Bravo! *Claps hands* See, told you I could cope! :D

    Coup de grace when prone?

Exactly! Can you do a surgical strike on a -4 penalty? Its the automatic hit of coup de grace that gets in my way here. Coup de grace IMHO is overpowered anyway, but thats another thread :) Thats exactly my hubbys argument. He's not paying you is he? :p I'm sure I'll cope :p

    Coup de grace when prone?

Hmm, I understand your points. Its just that, although there are no rules specifically mentioning it in the books, it doesn't seem right that you can hit someone accurately enough to kill them with one blow (probably), while at -4 to hit because youre lying on the floor. And with a spiked chain...

    Coup de grace when prone?

The question I want to throw to the EN World community is, What can you do whilst prone? More specifically, can you coup de grace? The problem came up in a recent 3.0 game we were playing. What had happened was.... An orc adept had cast a sleep at the party, causing our spiked chain weilding...
