    Warlock Implement + Light Shield?

Could that be another perk of pact blades, that they could be used with shields?

Warforged - new benchmark for racial stats/abilities

Minotaurs Damange focused fighters, try Minotaur and Bugbear for the 'oversized' trait. Bother add strength, and Mintaurs add con for some of the axe-bonus feat stuff. Bugbears also get a sorta-sneak-attack.

    D&D 4E Kill Mongo! 4E min/max design challenge.

Nicely done. What's the math on changing the to hit ratio. And what numerical effect does going bugbear for the bigger weapon/higher str have?

    D&D 4E Kill Mongo! 4E min/max design challenge.

Well, for solo hunting it is tops. +3.5 av damage. Beats the weapon training feats. But, yeah so that ranger multiclass is too much for solos. So new challenge: Kill Mongo without Warrior of the Wild? (Bloodied gnoll still works)

    Powers that are just COOL!

Trickster's Disposition (30th Level) - Once per day, you can tell the DM to treat to result of a d20 he just made as a 1. No rerolls are possible.

    D&D 4E Kill Mongo! 4E min/max design challenge.

Adjusting and Warriror of the Wild It seems that the Bugbear's pretty powerful, bigger weapons, bonuses to useful stats for rogues, and a free sneak attack. As for the bugbear fighter build, that could also be done with a minotaur. But look at all the builds.. the culprit is... Warrior of the...

    D&D 4E Kill Mongo! 4E min/max design challenge.

Death to Mongo in 8 Rounds! In the true spirit of Min-Maxing, I had to use unconventional options. Off to the MM! Mongo dies in 8 rounds to the horror of : Grunk, the Bugbear Brawny Rogue. Bugbear Rogue: Build: Str: 16, Dex: 20, Con: 11, Int: 10, Wis: 10, Cha: 8 Class: Rogue Option...

    Half-Elf vagueness -Dilettante Abuse?

If you read the Half-Elf again, as written the class could be considered horribly, horribly overpowered. That's right. Dilettante: At 1st level, choose an at-will power from a class different than yours. You may use that as an encounter power. Looks harmless.. but nowhere in there does it...

Clerics need a wis of 20.

Case for Elven Clerics? Maybe this will make the case for Elven Clerics. Minor Points: 1. Speed and Shiftiness let them get to safe positions easier. 2. A high wis + elf's perception gives pretty much makes you the party's 'spot guy' Major Points 3. The wisdom bonus makes hitting easier. 4...

    Minions and fixed damage

I like it Well, I think both speed an balance are a factor. Look at the Pit Fiend: An encounter with the Pit Fiend can consist of: 1 Pit Fiend, 2 Bone Devils, 4 Legion Devils (the others advanced to match the Pit Fiend.) Now the Pit Fiend can quickly summon 8 more 21st level Minions...

D&D 4E Chris Perkins announces major Eberron changes for 4e

New races I'd think that the Dragonborn would either be in Argonesson, or Q'barra. Eberron already had one hidden under the mountains race (The Heirs of Dhakaan), there's no reason the Dragonborn could not have been in Q'barra all along and just been mistaken for a 'reclusive 4th race of...

Excerpt: You and Your Magic Items

I must say, I like the changes Things seem simpler and more elegent. The effects shown are decent enough to be used, yet not overwhelming. I liek the fact that there's no more finagling with different pluses, so that the "+" value of a weapon is still relevant at higher levels. (Seriously, the...

D&D 4E 4e playtest report...my effort to convert our group

Suspension of Disbelief Well I can say one thing. The 3.5 need for precise shot sucked. I recently had an elf rogue who took a thematic feat at first level instead of gung-ho going for precise shot. Every time the fighter or barbarian gets in the way, I might as well just put away my bow. (My...

    D&D 4E Piracy and 4e

Interesting Actually... My habit has been to get some pdfs for stuff I want to check out (Or I go to the library- aka Borders). It is simply that I could not afford the books. But I still budgeted the $30 bucks I coudl afford to spend on wizard products a month and bought that (Including some...

    D&D 4E Got to play 4E today

Skill challenge comments I'd just like to chirp in on that I like the skill challenges. First, it gets to the heart of what makes D&D so much different from any game before and most games after it: Team Play. Before, there was a tendacy to give pass or fail checks. Usually one character was a...
