I've finally gotten around to reading Fall of Hyperion by Dan Simmons.

Ever use your place of work as a model for adventure?

I used the layout of one of my old workplaces for a ghoul-haunted Shadowrun warehouse.

The Problem I Find Myself In (Long, Sorry)

I want to preface this post with a statement of intent - it is not my intent to start any sort of edition war or argument about which system is better. In fact, the only real reason I'm mentioning edition numbers is for ease of reference. I also need to mention that I'd like to resolve this...

Worst fantasy names in our Real World

Some others from Pennsylvania. Note that some, well most, of these actually sound pretty cool, most notably the ones derived from Native American words. Jersey Shore, funny 'cause it's not at all near NJ Big Beaver, funny 'cause... well, yeah Bodies of Water: Wolf Pond Lake Nockamixon...

Worst fantasy names in our Real World

We were actually driving through Harford County, Maryland a few weeks back... they're selecting a county sheriff... they had a bunch of signs up advising you to vote for Sheriff Bane. I would not like to be arrested at all, but even less to be apprehended by Sheriff Bane.

    Making A PC Temporarily Evil

Well, maybe not an actual alignment change... but I have an idea that in the future I'd like to have one of the PCs get captured by an evil faction, and be coerced into helping them do something nefarious for a session or two until the other PCs rescue them. Basically, I had an established evil...

    Tolkien's Elves

The way I understand it, I think a case could be made for making all the variant types of elves more of a "faction" division than a mechanical one. I'd think only the Noldor would be mechanically different, and even they IMHO would be a slight variation on the elf entry, redoing stat bonuses...

Splitting my time between: The Divine Comedy by Dante, currently on Inferno Egil's Saga Wizard and Glass (Dark Tower IV) by Stephen King Varmints: Mystery Carnivores of North America by Chad Arment, on the cryptozoological front

Have you had sex? Got proof?

None yet. We're aiming towards one, but it may end up not being the result of coitus (had to use a kewl geek word) since, well, my wife may have problems in that regard, unfortunately.

Rule Clarification... Wintertouched feat and combat advantage

I assume the combat advantage granted by the Wintertouched feat still only effects the triggering PC, and not the other characters? I haven't kept up with all the errata and changes, so I don't know if Wizards decided this works differently or not.

Do I use to many house rules.

I don't know if there's really such a thing as too many. I'd think as long as you have them written down so that your players can see what you're doing differently, it's all good.

    [May] What are you reading?

The Drawing of the Three by Stephen King. Toll the Hounds by Steven Erikson.

    What Are You Working On?

    - First and foremost, working on writing my book on the cryptozoology and such of Pennsylvania. I've actually gotten a few compliments on what I've put together so far. It'll likely be published through the CFZ. So far, I've got two complete chapters and quite a few fragmentary ones, two that...

    Unicorn: A Terrible, Adorable Idea

It does work, 'tis the thing. And we were actually just talking about the old DnD cartoon and the baby unicorn... A good template for that upcoming Narnia campaign.

    23rd Level Monsters

Going by the afanc's size and all -- seems also to have a bit of influence from the one in The Scar. Maybe that's just me. As an aside, how do you determine the level of monsters you convert? Based off of HD, CR, or just eyeballed?
