DC20 or whatever is in parenthesis is the DC to train an animal to accept DC 10 commands.
Otherwise I always make Animal intelligence creatures, barring pack animals go after the closest foe...

My group of gamers are what you'd say are experienced.
A little house rule for those who thought flopping down on the ground and rolling around on them while they were attached is:
1d3 damage each round of rolling to each Stirge.
Those buggers are deadly, as a PC once ran...
