    Experiences with the Artificer Class?

In my experience, Artificer balance is based almost totally on the games level of money and down time. If you have a low money time sensitive game the artificer will be a little weak. If you give them a lot of money and free time your going to have to watch the artificers power level. For...

Did Tome of Magic introduce 3 new core classes?

Binders are down right crappy until they can bind two vestiges at one time. After that, early teens I think, they get pretty decent. Well that and by level 5 they have an unlimited about of out of combat heals which is pretty solid. Truenamers and Shadowcasters just blow. Sure if you try...

    Size of character parties

We tend to play 1 DM w/ 3-5 players. If we have only 3-4 then I considering adding a NPC if all the roles aren't covered. If we are playing with 5 PC then I don't introduce NPC's or henchmen if possible. I think the game gets less and less fun the more players you add over 4-5.

    Magical Item Compendium II-Staffs

I've gotta agree that Bards can use them, seeing as how they add new spells for a bard every book or two. Fixed list likely was added to exclude warmages and beguilers who would just be wrong if they could use one of these babies. Still I like them enough to add them to a current game. They...

Your Prc gets nerfed!!! what to do?

I agree. Hurting a player merely because they factored build power into their character development is lame. D&D has rules for a reason and players shouldn't be punished for wanting to build the best character they can that is within those rules. Thats not to say that you shouldn't nerf him...

does CN get a bad rap?

lawful characters work together regarless of g vs e axis good characters can be counted on not to do evil things CN cannot be counted on to work together or to not do evil deeds Even True N's are easier to play with. At least they tend to have set ideals. Even if you play CN perfectly they...

    Races for an African-style campaign?

Lets see... off the top of my head: Humans - gotta have humans Elfs - wild elves or wood elves stat wise Halflings - Eberron style only maybe without the dinos Dwarfs / Gnomes - nahh I don't see them working Shifters - yes but with african animal themes but otherwise same mechanics Half-orc -...

The Archivist in Play? How Good is it?

From my experience the power of the archivist rest solely in the hands of the DM. If the DM makes non cleric or domain scrolls rare then they a little more than an underpowered cleric. If, on the other hand, domain spell, druid, divine PsC and Shugena scrolls can be found or purchased then...

Worst Stat Rolls You Have Seen

I've gotten 4 rerolls in a row due to low stats but was never forced to play them. Heck, I tend to let my players have whatever stats they want. But then again my players are almost all older with a lot of experience and have never once came to me with more than two 18's and even thats rare...

What real world elements show up in D&D the least?

Fear, there is not near enough fear in D&D. And not the magic stuff I mean good old fashion I don't want to die" fear. I can't recall the last time any of my players ran away screaming. No matter how I set the mood or what I throw at them, except perhaps a big dragon, they'll at least try an...

Dungeonscape art gallery is up. Notably the return of the rotgrub!

Looking through the pics I have to say the art looks pretty decent. Its not the Eberron Art but as ussual its way better than the forgotten realms crap. Pretty solid. I'm kinda surprised we haven't had any leaks about either of the books yet. Amazon must be slipping this month and accually...

[Bards] What options are there to make them more interesting

Well I've never had a problem making a bard interesting, good yes but not interesting. But heres some ideas off the top of my head: - Combat Bard with some Warblade levels, Song of the White Raven feat, Snowflake Wardance from Frostburn - Small sized bard optimized for maximum...

    The Genius of D&D

I tend to disagree with most everything you said. Levels - I rather thing level up rewards are not big enough and levels go by almost too fast. For me this is certainly the case at low levels were I often feel I'm leveling faster than I would like for purely roleplaying reasons. Classes - I...

A *Really* High Powered D&D Game. Would you play in it? How can I up the power ante?

few if any of my regular party would play for the following reasons: - gestalt has a tendency to make everyone seem less special - characters who build highly optimised/min/maxed characters will dominate the roleplayer builds - you will either have to face higher level monsters, super charged...
