Worlds of Design: How Long is Your Game Meant to Be?

Longer campaigns for sure. Our group has 8 people, five of us rotate the gm chair, and we have been playing together, some of us, for almost 35 years. Generally someone signs up to run a campaign for 18-24 months. Heck, we just returned recently to a campaign we started in the mid-90's, that we...

D&D (2024) WotC Invites You To Explore the World of Greyhawk

Oh I definitely concur with this. Even though I run Pathfinder 1e these days, I do it using Greyhawk from the original 1980 Folio, which is a an excellent, lightly descriptive world allowing me to customize areas and allowing the world to grow with the players.

Pathfinder 1E Are people still playing Pathfinder 1e?

My group still plays PF1e weekly, and a once a month all day Saturday Game. We've been playing PF 1e since it came out. We love it. We left ADnD 1e for 3.5 and then moved from 3.5 to PF 1e as soon as it came out.

Pathfinder 2E Preview of Pathfinder Player Core 2 and New Champion Class

Ah, that makes sense however it wouldn't surprise me to see less of a focus on playing evil pcs since a lot of games expect pcs to be heroic, etc.

    AD&D- Overpowered Magic Items

I allowed a Hammer of Thunderbolts with the gauntlets and girdle once. ONCE. It was absurd. Granted it was the first time I ran the giants modules, but it was absolutely ludicrous. I never allowed that combo again. For the scale of the game at the time, it was an impressive amount of to hit and...

Pathfinder 2E Preview of Pathfinder Player Core 2 and New Champion Class

As a player of PF 1e since it came out, and not knowing anything about PF 2e, I didn't know that. Does PF2e prohibit evil pcs, or do they make it difficult to build one? That would definitely be a deal breaker for my group. You learn something new each day apparently.

ICv2 Reports Disappointing Year For Hobby Games Channel: TTRPGs Down, D&D Declines 30%

Sounds about right. I'm an older gamer, in my mid-50's and due to my group playing PF 1e since it came out, the only real thing I buy anymore is dice and miniatures, since we already have a plethora of PF 1e stuff that we haven't run yet, we don't need new adventures, and there aren't...

Joyful GMing: Practical Advice for Playing Nice

I agree, and my groups have been doing that since we started with ODnD back in the late 70s. For us initially, it was a way to keep everyone honest, including the gms. Every group I've played with since all the way up to our current PF 1e group has done this, never using GM screens either. What...

    Dragon Reflections #67

I remember this issue. I used to have a subscription to Dragon in the 80s. I always liked the Greyhawk Deity articles.

Worlds of Design: All Your Base

My group is currently playing through the Ironfang Invasion AP and, well, it's a constantly on the go campaign. We've not been able to stay in any one place for very long which makes it hard for folks that want to craft. We'd love a base of operations but sometimes the campaigns just don't...

RPG Evolution: Don't Play This Class!

Archer and the Archer-Ranger, that brings back memories. We used that one as a pc class in our 1e ADnD games in the 80s and 90s.

Pathfinder 1E How "grimdark" is your Golarion?

We go for PG13/R Rating, we played the Hell's Vengeance AP and that was pretty Over the Top. I am starting to run us through Carrion Crown in 2 weeks, and it will likely be a pretty dark, with Gothic Horror and Lovecraftian influences.
