Quick question: A character is missing his right (master) hand after it was cut off during a combat. Now he can only hold his weapon in his left hand. What is the penalty for fighting with a weapon held in his non-master hand? Thanks.
If I'm a player, I do not mind the DM fudges his dice as long as no one knows it when he does it. If the rules are generally followed and the people around the table are having good fun, the game is a successful one.
I am reluctant to see an adventure path (with weeks or months of gaming) dedicates to only a single theme. I hope the next major plot would include pockets of adventures with different themes. Maybe one dealing with Giants, followed by Aberrations (beholders?), Undead (Lich?), Underwater...
I definitely like to provide an opportunity for the PCs to pick up an 'intelligent' magic item that would give marginal benefit with a negative catch. I am careful of not penalizing the PC with the item so much that it causes major problems, just an inconvenience will do. One such item is the...
I had a similar situation and decided to let the PCs won the day with their creativity..
For days, the players was fleeing from hobgoblins riding on dire wolves in the forest. The powerful Hobgoblin Warlord riding his winter wolf found them but was eventually killed by the PCs after a tough...
This makes me realize that, based on my (flawed) example, the hydra should not even lose any heads because the hydra did not suffer more than 25 damage in a single turn. Each player's turn causes only 15 damage.
So the amended example should be:
Player1's Turn: Player 1 deals 25 slashing...
Quick question about the hydra:
Players' Turn: Player 1 deals 15 slashing damage. Player 2 deals 15 fire damage. One out of five heads dies.
Hydra's Turn: Hydra attacks with 4 heads. No growing of new heads because of earlier fire damage.
Player's Turn: Player 1 deals 15 slashing damage. Player...
Quick question:
My wizard knows his enemy may cast a Fireball but he does not have Counterspell. Can my wizard take a Ready action to cast Dispel Magic instead (ie, enable him to take a reaction and cast a Dispel Magic to null the Fireball the moment the enemy casts it?)
This. I didn't see that earlier. I keep thinking it has to be animated immediately after 24hrs. In my game the body was almost destroyed. I can make it return very close to PCs even if they have spent weeks traveling elsewhere. Of course requirement is there must be a corpse nearby.
I really like the idea of the dreams. It helps set the tone and suspense before PCs running into the Revenant.
I'm thinking of increasing its CR for each subsequent encounter with it, perhaps casting new terrible spells beside better HP/AC then previous . PCs can increase levels as game...
Thanks for the comments and ideas. The PCs are traveling far and wide with ships and across settlements, thus prompting me to ponder the obstacles the undead has to face in order to reach its target.
The Revenant was a (evil) priest slew by the PCs. Unknown to them, I decide the villain to be...
I really like the idea of Revenant and intends to use one (or more!) to hunt the PCs. The MM says that a Revenant looks superficially like zombie. It is a dead (or undead) rotting body walking around looking for its target wherever the latter goes. The PCs are riding horses, taking boat rides...
