Yes. Earthdawn Third Edition and it's 4E setting are two different product lines from RedBrick. The 4E line of Earthdawn products is the "Age of Legend 4e" line mentioned in Matt's release. Earthdawn Third Edition will be based on the original Earthdawn system.

Don't forget about Opportunity Attacks*, Cover/Concealment, and Flanking. Beasts count as allies per the preview rules, and multiple beast allies would let you easily dominate some battlefields by their presence alone, even if they don't act. *though I guess they will address this
