D&D 5E What happens if you cast Meteor Swarm underground or indoors?

So the spell Meteor Swarm states that "Blazing orbs of fire plummet to the ground". That seems to imply a starting point and an end point ("the ground"), and since they "plummet" it would seem the starting point would be the sky? As a DM, I'm not certain how to handle Meteor Swarm if its cast...

Schools of Magic dungeon traps (looking for suggestions as well!)

The party is level 13, the original school was designed for low-level characters who just graduated (level 4-5), so I'm trying to make it so that it would be reasonable for a group of wizardly students to accomplish it, but should be fairly trivial for our high level group (in theory). Changed...

Schools of Magic dungeon traps (looking for suggestions as well!)

Hey guys, I'm running a game in an abandoned school of wizardry and I'm setting up a series of rooms that were part of the graduation process for students (a group of 4th-5th level of so students). There are puzzle rooms for each school of magic and are meant to be more or less non-lethal, but...

D&D 5E Rogue Proficiency Bonus Doubling Question

That's what I thought, I just wanted a confirmation. I've made a character that's an advisor to arcanists, wizards, etc., but he doesn't cast spells himself. The rogue class + sage background allowed me to maximize his Arcana skill efficiently. Anyway, I had tried to build him in the D&D Beyond...

D&D 5E Poison and the poison condition

That example is from the Incapacitated condition description, which would not make reference to itself. Condition effects are sometimes described as "conditions" with regularity outside the condition section itself. The confusion with the word "poisoned" could describe the common english usage...

D&D 5E Rogue Proficiency Bonus Doubling Question

So, I take it it would be completely possible to choose a skill proficiency for a rogue's Expertise to be a skill gained from a Background?

Reverse dungeon, YOU are the monsters!

Mostly, I'm just looking for any suggestions ENWorld'ers might have for a game like this. Thanks!

Reverse dungeon, YOU are the monsters!

I'll check out the book, but I won't be able to read it in time before the game. As far as Matthew's question, all the players will have direct control of any goblins or monsters in their tribe.

Reverse dungeon, YOU are the monsters!

So for an upcoming local gaming-fest, I have plans on running a "reverse dungeon" wherein the players play monsters, instead of heroes. It'll be a sort of "horde" mode for an RPG. It's a 3-4 hour game, one night only and I expect 6-8 players at most. I'll be using an obscene amount of Dwarven...

D&D 5E Poison and the poison condition

So would you agree that the list I mentioned are the ones that have the Poisoned Condition from the DMG?

D&D 5E Poison and the poison condition

So the ones that seem to more or less fit that description in the DMG would be: Assassin's Blood, Carrion Crawler Mucus, Drow Poison, Essence of Ether, Malice, Oil of Taggit, Pale Tincture, Torpor, & Truth Serum. Those have some instance of the word "poisoned". NONE say directly to apply the...

D&D 5E Poison and the poison condition

So I've looked over the threads that deal with this, but I still have no clarity on this. Do all poisons cause the "poisoned" condition? Do only some? The PHB is very unclear about this and the DMG is vague enough that I can't say with certainty. Does anyone know the answer to this? Thanks guys...

    Transporting troops via ship...

I've been assuming cogs for the most part.

    Transporting troops via ship...

I wouldn't say that of FR, at least no from the third edition books. Most of the setting seems to be renaissance era technology and I've seen nothing of "modern" technology in it. I'm no historical expert, so I can't say any of that solidly. Any that are more knowledgable have an opinion on it...

Transporting troops via ships in D&D...

Yeah, I had realized I probably posted in the wrong section over here... I appreciate the assistance though!
