Never gave half a toss about the Fantastic 4, but the Silver Surfer has been one of my favotire characters for decades. I'm digging the retrofuturistic design of the film and the fact that afaict they made Galactus actually, well, Galactus this time.
I'm in on this one.
I didn't start with D&D - the first TTRPG I ever played was Earthdawn (1st Edition) - but once I discovered (A)D&D(2e) a few months later I was hooked for years. This would have been ca. 1993. And while I say AD&D 2e, in truth it was a mashup of 2e, 1e, and Basic material - i didn't even realize...
I need a system to give me the tools I need to run it then get out of the way. A basic mechanic for resolving interactions and character types or archetypes or classes or whatever to behave in that environment. I don't mind multiple systems or subsystems, mostly as examples of ways to do things...
I tell them the types of gems and the gp value. Some players write down the gems, some write down the gp value.
I frankly don't find it worth the hassle to micromanage how they do it, but I'm always entertained when someone brings up that they have an open (for example) and wants to use it for...
As others have approached the level limits question, I'm going to focus on psionics.
The Complete Psionics Handbook has a completely different mechanic for running the abilities than the Skills & Powers book does. In fact, the Skills & Powers book was a deliberate revision to the 2e psionics...
Saw our first PC death. :(
This was in my weekly public DCC game, the the player just grabbed a different pregen and immediately integreated the new character into the group in a very novel and entertaining way, but it was still a bit sad.
OP didn't mention PoD being a factor, true. But if they ever want to do PoD through DrivethruRPG, they can either use Scribus to create the web PDF and a different program to create the print PDF, or they can choose a different program and just use it for everything.
This page specifies that...
Hmm.
My wife and I have been friends for over 30 years, and she is one of the people who played in the first campaigns I ever ran. She's been a resourceful and innovative player from day one, and she's a delight to have in any group. She tends to think outside the box - big time - which can...
I wouldn't use Scribus. I believe that DMSGuild, and probably Ingram/Lightning Source in general, no longer accepts PDFs made using Scribus for PoD projects. And for my part I had an absolutely awful time using the program to put a book together back when it WAS allowed.
If you don't have...
Like many of us, I've been GMing so long it would be shorter to list the mistakes I HAVEN'T made.
The one that comes to mind though is from a very early campaign I ran - one of the first if not THE first - back in 1995 or so; this would be AD&D 2nd Edition. The party came acoss a cache of elven...
