I really like option 4, that fits well thematically. I know Cure Wounds is a thing, but these would allow you to give everybody their own temporary minor healing potion to use whenever. Nice idea.
I think we're at cross purposes here. You're talking about the game as whole, and using a particular system for - as far as I can tell - every journey. I'm not. I'm talking about, whenever needed, I just use the system to flesh out a journey I need to slow down or need to feel takes time or is...
Maybe I'm missing something but I always got the impression that it isn't a 'all the time' or 'none of the time' thing. As a Narrator I would use them where appropriate, and not all the time - always at the speed of plot, so to speak.
I'm a little confused. Why would you need consent from the players? Surely it's supposed to be seamless and unobtrusive. Players wouldn't (shouldn't) know and, more importantly, they could be used or ignored as needed. I'd feel bad as a Narrator (because that's what we're called nowadays! :) )...
I'm fortunate enough to have both face to face and online sessions (different groups) [and of course the face to face one has to meet online for the meantime]. I've been using variouos VTTs for a long time and it doesn't affect my buying habits. I think it's mostly because I rarely go deeper...
I have a long history with both tabletop and computer based rpgs, and I love them both - but for different reasons. It's true that a cRPG will never achieve the flexibility of the tabletop variety but that doesn't mean they aren't 'D&D' or some other variant. They are definitely RPGs - I play my...
We've all been here and the real point is that it needs to be talked about, in the open, like adults. Something like the string of luck is a concern as it's causing real and noticeable imbalance, thus reducing the level of fun for everyone involved, and causing problems in trying to develop...
Woah there. No-one said anything about people adding stuff that others could see.
Besides, it's common practice nowadays for content to be the user's responsibility, with them signing Terms & Conditions. If any legally sensitive material is published (which it wouldn't in my model) then the...
The OP didn't ask for campaign management, nor did he ask for an expanded method of maintaining house rules. All he asked for was something that already existed - even to the point of allowing you to choose "nothing" and leaving it blank to be filled in when printed out.
No-one, especially me...
So... your argument is that WotC should do nothing because they'll get bad press? I hope that's not why they don't do the little things.
The point about web technologies though is that their biggest benefit is that they can be incrementally upgraded. It doesn't have to be a collection of big...
I apologize to anyone I may appear to be talking down to, but I honestly affirm that is not what I am doing here. I don't know the technical level of anyone here, so I'm just going for the lowest common denominator!
It's certainly true that comparing integers to other integers is quicker...
