D&D 5E Which spell scrolls are best to buy for an Arcane Trickster?

Hi, I am playing a level 11 AT. I can cast 2nd level spells so far. 1st - Familar, Silent Image, Disguise Self 2nd - Darkvision, Mirror Image, Invisibility, Suggestion, Phantasmal Force Our DM allows to buy a limited amount of scrolls per level (around 3-5). So, which ones would be...

    D&D 5E Rogue (11) Multiclass options

Thanks for your reply! Meanwhile, I think Extra Attack is the way to go, although I was almost putting that thought aside. But someone on a different thread on GITP convinced me: I find that reasonable. From the damage perspective, Extra Attack is better. The only BIG advantages are Haste and...

    D&D 5E Rogue (11) Multiclass options

Thanks for your answer. I know that somehow doubles my SA crit bonus. But to be honest, this is something you really can't rely on. Furthermore, Fighter 7 means that I wouldn't get Slippery Mind what is HUGE.

    D&D 5E Rogue (11) Multiclass options

Thanks for your answers. I considered your suggestions, but am still not quite sure about the next levels. Meanwhile, our DM ruled the following: 1.) We are playing the variant rule for resting now (short rest = 1 day; long rest = 7 days), so I won't take much advantage of "per short rest"...

D&D 5E Counterspell - Do I know my foes' spell before I counter?

Well, can't say anything against it. You are right! Should have taken more time in my break to reply. ;)

D&D 5E Counterspell - Do I know my foes' spell before I counter?

From the numerous posts and szenarios described I assume the best way would be: 1.) Tell the players the spell name (without a check). Reasons: - If you don't tell them, they will ask for an arcana/religion check for any spell, what will slow down the game. - If you describe one the spell's...

D&D 5E Counterspell - Do I know my foes' spell before I counter?

Okay, you absolutely convinced me. Thanks for all your comments! From now on, I am going to tell my players which spell is being cast. Just one last question: Do you also tell them, what level the spell has, so the players can decide whether or not they want to use a higher spell slot for...

D&D 5E Counterspell - Do I know my foes' spell before I counter?

That's what I am also afraid of. If I allow checks, I am quite sure my players want to identify ANY spell, so we will likely come to the situation that they will ask for a check, WHENEVER a spell is being cast by a foe. So, there are the following possibilities: Ask for a check to identify a...

D&D 5E Counterspell - Do I know my foes' spell before I counter?

Thanks for all your responses! I like that ruling. Only question to discuss seems the difficulty of the DC. 15 + spell level seems a bit high, doesn't it?

D&D 5E Counterspell - Do I know my foes' spell before I counter?

Hi, let's say, I don't want to waste my Counterspell to interrupt an enemy casting a Cantrip, but I do want to prevent him from casting e.g. a Fireball. Is it possible to find out what spell is being cast by my foe, so I can decide whether or not I cast Counterspell? For example, I am having...

D&D 5E Major Image (Spell): When should a creature use its action to examine something that it believes is real?

Thanks for all your answers! I found some nice indications about how to rules this!

D&D 5E Major Image (Spell): When should a creature use its action to examine something that it believes is real?

Passive skills are a tool for DMs to quickly determine a skill check without the need of a roll. It's NOT that you do something "passively". This has been misunderstood since playtest. So, the asnwer is no. A creature does not automatically succeed in the investigation check. Certainly not, if...

D&D 5E Major Image (Spell): When should a creature use its action to examine something that it believes is real?

Yes, for sure, if there is a reasons for a creature to be suspicious, investigation is always possible. To be honest, I concentrated on fighting situations or mimicing creatures/persons that don't arouse "natural" suspicion.
