    D&D 5E ToA -> Ixalan

A similar thing happened with Curse of Strahd / Shadows Over Innistrad (Innistrad is the MTG gothic horror setting). Both dropped around the same time, and we got a guide on running Curse of Strahd on Innistrad instead of Barovia. I’m expecting we’ll see a guide on running TOA on Ixalan, as...

D&D 5E GenCon: is Goodman Games's Keep on the Borderlands there??

I visited the booth out there - it's now being targeted for a November release. Wasn't ready for the show. They had a cover preview, looks fantastic.

D&D 5E Proposed rule for number of character-class-equivalent NPCs in a D&D world

Neat little system, thanks for posting it. I'm a fan of anything that brings a little more "fantasy world simulation" to 5E.

ZENDIKAR -- Where Magic: The Gathering and D&D Collide!

I don't think this is a case of the MTG creative group finally trusting those D&D guys - it looks more like an MTG-initiated initiative to drive more book and art sales from their side. They have a ton of sunk cost in Magic art and world building, and this is another opportunity to harvest...

ZENDIKAR -- Where Magic: The Gathering and D&D Collide!

Innistrad, the Gothic horror world, is massively popular - but personally I'd love to see them tackle Theros, their Greek myth inspired setting.

    D&D 5E 5E OB5ERVATIONS - from an Old School Ref

It's a deal! I'll get a chance to start looking at it this weekend, starting with an excel table or template. Drop a PM if you beat me to building a table or template first.

    D&D 5E 5E OB5ERVATIONS - from an Old School Ref

Yes, absolutely, it's most straight forward to create NPC's the same way as PC's. Then you cross index the defense, offense, specials, etc and identify their CR and see where it lands. Where I haven't loved the DMG approach is when I set out to make a CR 3 boss NPC and then need to work...

    D&D 5E 5E OB5ERVATIONS - from an Old School Ref

This is cross-posted from my blog, where most of the commentators are going to be fellow old schoolers already. How many folks here at EnWorld have come to 5th from old editions (1st ed AD&D, Classic, OD&D, or one of the clones?) Also, if it's not clear, the players are completely enjoying 5E...

    D&D 5E Campaigns losing steam

My group is a handful of dads (and their boys) and it's typically difficult to get the full roster every week - families are demanding. We'll range anywhere from 3 to 7 players any given night. I've been enforcing some techniques that work well for transient players: Adventures are short -...

D&D 5E DPR, AC, and Alternate Settings

I have a campaign I'm running set in Mythic Greece. We just have a few sessions under our belt. I saw a thread looking at the DPR of the various classes and it raised an interesting question: will it cause unnecessary problems for the fighting classes (in terms of bounded accuracy) to remove...

    D&D 5E What's the point of gold?

I actually have a scoreboard in my campaign. It's at the Adventurer's Guildhall. It lets them see how they're against the NPC rival adventurers exploring the same mega dungeon.

D&D 5E Necromancer Games--What do you want us to make next?

I'll second the idea of a rogues gallery style book with both generic and colorful NPCS. Statting NPCS is a chore. I've really enjoyed 5th edition Foes. A wide range of generic NPCS could appear in another monster book too. The idea of a collection of short delves and side quests is...

D&D 2E Yup, it's confirmed, 5E is the easiest version to run since 2E.

As an OSR person, I'd say it's not as easy as classic D&D (Moldvay BX) or even a retro clone like LOTFP. But 5E seems much easier and fun to run than any of the AD&D versions or later. Most of the complexity is on the player side. So far so good. So far, the only thing I don't love (in prep)...

Adventurer's League Nights and Going Nova

That's fair, that's a similar cadence of challenge to what I've been planning. I saw on one of the threads here an observation like this, 'martial characters earn their keep on long adventuring days, short days favor the spell casters' or a similar sentiment... I want to make sure I throw...

Adventurer's League Nights and Going Nova

I just started a new 5E game, built around a megadungeon. Conceptually I'm trying to set it up a bit like an at-home "adventurer's league" - we can't always get all of the players each week, so each I want each session to start and end back in town so new people can join. The adventurer sites...
